Domestic Violence Survivors Reaching Out (D.V.S.R.O) is a registered NGO based in Chaguanas comprising of domestic violence survivors and friends, reaching out as advocates of Domestic Violence, Gender Base Violence, Adult Abuse, Sexual Abuse their plights, it’s risks and effects on all involved. We promote, network and maintain links with Religious bodies other organizations and Governmental Mini

stries. To establish, maintain, improve and empower the advancement of social development in gender base violence. We make aware the various programs and assistance available. Offering the assurance and support not having to go through the process alone while in their day to day struggles to stay safe and stay alive. DVSRO provides ongoing support while evolving from victim to survivor to agents of change. We strive to reduce the effects surrounding domestic violence by providing up to date information. To, educate and empower all on the risks of domestic violence and its effects, in their day to day efforts to stay safe and most of all stay alive. We intend to break society’s tolerance of domestic violence at the same time stamping out the belief of the abuser that it is their right to enforce their will on their partners. OUR MISSION
Is to be the voice of survivors of domestic violence and those in abusive relationships. Advocating on behalf those without a voice. To shorten the gap between what is available and what is really needed. To reach out to the scared, silent, confused, misused, and abused no matter race, color, political or religious affiliation, class or stature in life. To open the eyes of those who are and could be potential victims. To reduce the risk surrounding domestic violence. To encourage them to speak up and seek assistance for both the abused and the abuser. Therefore breaking the silence and cycle. To break society’s tolerance of domestic violence at the same time stamping out the belief of the abuser that it is their right to enforce their will on their partners. OUR VISION
Is one day not to have a reason for an organization such as ours. To have accessible homes, emergency housing, affordable indebt counselling, affordable Daycare for survivors and those in abuse. To assist in legislative changes, so that the government and law of our land would be amended to protect those can’t protect themselves
To arm those in domestic violence with the information to empower them in their day to day efforts to stay safe, stay sane and most of all to stay alive,
To have the print and audio media partner with us helping survivors to achieve economic self-sufficiency, by empowering and educating them through affordable commercials and ads and realistic short skits, sharing testimonies of other survivors making it more affordable to get the messages across. Showing more local movies and commercials on abuse. Less foreign actors, real life survivor’s experiences by which people can relate. To insert and develop positive self-esteem and values by which they can be clarified in their vision to lead successful lives through religion and mentorship. To eradicate over a period of time one of the most serious public health issue and criminal justice facing us today. All protective services must be fully trained and equipped to handle domestic violence and show respect, tolerate and sympathize with all showing up to report being abused. To establish family oriented, self-sufficient, self-run, humane 24hrs shelters equipped with full support systems, with fully trained counselors to deal with all affected by domestic violence. Shelters must provide 24 hours service, making sure their programs even though strict, must be warm family oriented. Be a vital resource, providing financial assistance, child-care and mental as well as medical care. Legal services or referrals, housing, clothing, training and education through fully trained sensitive social services. Available if needed, on call counselors 24 hrs, for those mentally abused, on a one on one. Providing information, emotional support not only to victims but also the children, to help identify options and building solutions. Advocates and support groups should be allowed to accompany the victims at their request, to only police station, to court, hospitals. Survivors of adult abuse with whom may have a lot in common should be allowed in the shelters making sure the victim feels less isolated and can talk in a safe place. Where vital information and untruth can be discovered. Offering skill training whereby breaking the dependence syndrome, making them self-reliant to better their lives there for easing the burden on friends, family, the Government and the
country. Domestic Violence Survivors Reaching Out is about the violence in our homes, communities and schools as it is about you and me. If individuals come together, more violence would be averted than if all wars stopped at once. We largely rely on the generosity of community mined individuals, and businesses for support, and is due on the part of that generous support of donors just like you, and those who believe in our mission, we are able to, and will like to continue to meet our mission and provide services in our communities.
