I grew up in a house with a lot of dogs and I was told when I was younger my mom had to keep a firm hand on me as I kept trying to hug a stray dog. I really can't remember when I began rescuing animals but I'm sure it's well over ten years now. I've been doing rescues and bearing the financial costs by myself but now it's so hard with the increasing cost of living. I hope that through this page an

d the organisation, that persons who are willing to assist animals but unable to foster or adopt them can contribute towards our initiatives. I hope that persons understand that a little love and kindness towards stray animals can go a long way. Pupper ate a little bit more this evening by himself, then he went on the bed and then he gave up the bed for Ginger 🙈

Ginger still had to be force fed, I was able to give her a little bit more this evening.

Both got their evening meds and are resting comfortably. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I pray they continue to get stronger 🙏🏼

(I’m in need of absorbent pads for Pupper, Pricesmart has a box of 100 for $200 if I remember correctly. If anyone can assist, let me know please.)

After a worrisome night into this morning, he was finally able to get some rest in around 11:30am.

Also, finally, since his collapse, I got him to eat some cooked food. He was only eating the chicken breast and I was force feeding him the NF canned food.

He still didn’t eat enough but I’ll try him with a little bit again later.

Apart from Daisy, I brought Ginger downstairs so I can monitor her better. She’s also being force fed. I have two weeks to strengthen her up and make a change in her blood values so that she’ll hopefully be ok to have surgery.

Today was one of his better days and then this….

I had gone upstairs to eat something for the day only to come downstairs and see him breathing fast, a slight tremble and his heart trying to beat out of his chest.

Thankfully once I’m with him, he’s able to calm down and eventually stabilize but I’m always worrying about if I’m not next to him and he has an episode.

Pupper update.

He only wants to eat chicken so I have to force feed him the NF canned food.

With the lasix he’s urinating a lot more, the urine pads sometimes can’t even absorb as fast so I have to be there to make sure it doesn’t overflow.

The last two evenings he was able to make little walks outside, just to the middle of the empty lot and back, I’m not taking chances of carrying him further.

Yesterday finally, I started getting back a little wag tail and it made me so happy.

Thank God, since Sunday, there has been no major episode. His legs go wobbly from time to time but he sits when it happens and then slowly lie down.

An idea of my sleep last night:
Went to sleep at 1am
Pupper was up at 1:45am so I was up to monitor him.
Back to sleep at 2:30am
Up at 3am (he needed to urinate)
Back to sleep at 3:45am after cleaning and getting him settled.
Woke up at 4:20am, Pupper wanted to go outside.
Fell asleep at 5:00am
Woke up at 5:45am to find Pupper looking down at me waiting.

If you see me yawning my day away… now you know why.

Update on Pupper Bear.

His blood pressure is dropping from time to time. It’s what caused him to collapse. Plus he’s retaining fluid again. (You can notice his stomach in the pic.) Because of the fluid retention, he’s not eating much.

His lasix has been increased to 4 daily as opposed to 2. He was on 4 daily in his early diagnosis and we were able to decrease it. I’m hoping it’s the same situation.

On the downside, lasix also works against his blood pressure and would affect his kidney. But his kidney values are slightly better than where it was so I’m hoping and praying it doesn’t affect him too much.

He did come out to walk this morning as opposed to yesterday, he wasn’t even interested. I only carried him to the empty lot and back to avoid stress on his body.

I’ll continue to update as much as possible.
