Today, BIGWU celebrates 52 years.

For 52 years, the Banking, Insurance and General Workers Union has stood in defence of workers — through struggle, change, challenge and victory.

This anniversary belongs to every member, branch officer, shop steward, staff member, retiree and comrade who helped build and sustain this Union.

As we mark this milestone, we honour our past, celebrate our present, and recommit ourselves to the work ahead: organising workers, defending rights, building solidarity and strengthening the voice of labour.

52 years strong. Still standing. Still serving. Still in the struggle.

We're on Day 1 of Session 2 of our 2026 Training Program, and we are honored to have the Union President, Cde Don Devenish, joining and contributing to this session.

Today and tomorrow is all about Occupational Safety and Health, as together we continue on the path of education, solidarity, and progress for all workers!

This year's May Day celebrations were a true testament to the power of collective action and solidarity. Throughout the streets of San Fernando, workers marched, sang, and stood united in calling for justice and fair treatment in workplaces everywhere. The speeches, the banners, the camaraderie - it was all a sight to behold!
