ABOUT US
Turunç Cats Protection and Rescue Housing Association is a not-for-profit, legally registered Turkish charity. We aim to protect, rescue, feed, neuter & provide medical care to sick & injured cats & kittens in Turunç, Amos and Kumbulük. On the 8th September 2014 TCPRHA became the new name for Turunç Cats Welfare, when we became a Turkish Registered Charity. Our Official Turkish name i

s:
Turunç Kedileri Korumu, Barındırma ve Kurtarma Derneği. We are managed by a committee made up of volunteers who along with other dedicated volunteers, protect, rescue and look after the welfare the cats in our village in Turunç in Turkey. We operate trap-neuter-return program (TNR) which is the most humane and effective method for improving the lives of street cats whilst also controlling the street cat population. The cats are humanely trapped, taken to a veterinary for spaying or neutering, medically treated; and in most cases they are returned to the outdoor locations where they were found, unless the location is unsafe or inappropriate. The cats are released where volunteers provide them with adequate food, water and they can monitor them for any signs of illness and injuries. We also have twenty feeding and monitoring stations set up and are currently feeding 194 cats in Turunç. Our feeding stations enables us to monitor the health of the cats. Any cats or kittens who are unwell or have suffered a trauma are provided with veterinary care and are looked after at our rehabilitation shelter until they are healthy enough to be released. We also have a quarantine room where we treat sick cats and kittens, without infecting the cats in the main Rehabilitation Shelter. All new cats spend two weeks in quarantine to ensure they do not have any infectious diseases that they could be passed onto the other cats. How we Fund our Work
Kind Donations made through a number of methods detailed in the ‘how you can help’ section on our website, a cat sponsorship program. The Committee also organises regular fundraising events. All funds raised go directly to caring for the cats. Board of Directors

Kiki
On Tuesday Fliss called, she had seen a young kitten in the road, she was worried that the kitten would get hit by a car. So she took her into the shop. Fliss was concerned that the kitten only slept.
We checked the kitten and she seemed to be OK, so we said that maybe she had been wandering around all night and was exhausted.
I put on a post on Facebook asking if anyone had lost her but didn't get any response. Fliss called back at 5pm and said the kitten was still sleeping so we took Kiki to the quarantine room. On Wednesday we took her to Happypets. Mehmet and Abdullah kept her in for 24 hours to observe her, she was fine and wasn't displaying any signs of illness. Jobey collected her the following day. We put her in the quarantine room, with the aim of putting into the cabin with Troubles and Nisan when she completes her quarantine period.
However, this morning a lady came to the cabin explaining that she has a mum cat and three kittens at her villa and that Kiki was one of the kittens.
She didn't know how Kiki ended up in the centre of Turunç.
Kiki was so used to be handled by humans, we were sure she had had a lot of human interaction. The poor kitten had been crying for her mum so now she has been reunited with her mum and siblings. 🐾🐈 ###

Kitmir
Berna called over a week ago about a cat she feeds had a closed eye. We said we would take her in on Monday. Monday morning Berna messaged and said Kismir’s eye was OK. Then on Saturday, Berna messaged again and said Kismir’s eye was closed again so we said we would pick her up Monday morning. When we collected Kismir, her eye was open OK but Berna said she had a problem eating maybe a tooth. We took Kismir to Happypets and Mehmet checked her. Kismir has a bad tooth, so staying in for treatment. They will also monitor her eye.
Thank you Berna.
Thank you Mehmet and Abdullah. 🐾🐈 ###

Update on Boots
When Jobey and I were in Happypets yesterday we asked about Boots. Mehmet brought Boots into the consultation room so we could see him. Although the skin on the bottom part of his leg is raw, it is doing well. His foot still has infection but is slowly improving.
Hopefully his leg and foot will completely heal.
Thank you so much Mehmet, Abdullah and İrem for doing all you have to save his leg. 🐾🐈 ###

Misty, Arrow and Smokey
Jobey and I collected Misty and Arrow from Happypets yesterday.
Misty operation on her fractured pelvis was a great success, she had her stir itches out yesterday and Mehmet said she could go back out.
As the time was getting late when we got home we put her in the quarantine room overnight and took her back this morning.
We also collected Arrow, one of the cabin young ones. Arrow had a nasty infection in between his toes due to an injury he got somehow. The infection has cleared and the wound has completely healed . Arrow spent the night in the cabin with Troubles and after breakfast he went out.
Update on Smokey, he has an allergy and is staying in Happypets for treatment.
Thank you Mehmet and Abdullah. 🐾🐈 ###

Smokey
Yesterday Gabrielle messaged me, saying bond owners were concerned about a at with a l wound on his neck. She enclosed a couple of photos. I said she may need antibiotics so we will go and have a look.
Luckily when we went she was asleep so when I checked her neck she was a bit dozy. Under her chin was bald and scratched. Suspecting an allergy we tried to put her in a box to take to Happypets. Then, we found out how lucky we were to have a look at her before she properly woke up. .
We took Smokey to Happypets today, Abdullah is going to sedate her to examine her because she really isn't very friendly at the moment.
Thank you to Gabrielle for contacting us.
Thank you Abdullah. 🐾🐈 ###
