Watch Helin Yakut, one of our incredible Kurdish students, singing Jose Feliciano’s "The Gypsy" alongside her teacher and friend, Sahba Aminikia. 🎶 Woven beautifully into this soulful moment is a joyful, whimsical dance between the founder of Sirkhane Social Circus School, Pinar Demiral , and our very own giant puppet Shekshekar, created by our own genius Soheila Bajelan 💃🎨. Helin is one of the most courageous, persistent, and talented Circus and Music Heroes of Sirkhane Social Circus School and Flying Carpet. She has been a beloved part of our family for the last 8 years, growing with us since the very day Flying Carpet was initiated.

Our deepest hope is for our children to look beyond language and nationality, experiencing the profound freedom of being citizens of the world. Children's choirs are one of the most powerful tools we have to build community, empower inner voices, and encourage kids to sing solo—a feat that is deeply intimidating even for adults. Yet, our children step up with the wisdom, curiosity, and courage that defines the very essence of life.

After spending the entire summer of 2025 working with two vibrant children's choirs in the Istasyon neighborhood of Mardin and Kiziltepe (who rocked three festival locations before our big show!), we are so excited for what’s next. This year, we are continuing our activities with the children in Istasyon, and they will be performing in 3–4 locations during the upcoming Flying Carpet Festival! 🎪

A huge thank you to José Feliciano for creating beautiful songs that resonate across decades and centuries.

This unforgettable rendition features the incredible vocal talents of Diyarbakir's own Nurcîhan Yılmaz. Her soulful voice beautifully captures the deep longing of this timeless classic, accompanied by the lush sounds of the Flying Carpet Orchestra. The piece was brought to life through a breathtaking original arrangement by our very own Rasa Mahmoudian. 🎶

Our dear father of our circus Sirkhane, Abu Khaled (Khayri Kasem)

Once, the children called you “Abu Sirk” because you became a father to every child who arrived at Sirkhane. You carried the gentleness of a teacher and the strength of a man who rebuilt his life with love. From Syria to here, you didn’t just arrive, you rooted yourself in us.

You listened, you guided, you organized, you cared. You held families together, you made space for joy, and you gave children something beyond shelter, you gave them belonging.

Sirkhane was never just a place for you, it was your home. Your son, your beloved wife Emel, and all of us, we were your family.

Yesterday, we lost you, today, we said goodbye, and still it feels impossible.

In this moment, as the music plays, we see you there on the right side of the video, your hands speaking through the drum, your presence steady and full of life, as if nothing could ever take you away from this place, from us.

We are heartbroken to let you go, but we are endlessly grateful that you were ours.

May your journey into eternity be as kind, generous, and full of light as the life you gave to others.

You will never leave our circus Sirkhane will live in our hearts to eternity🤍🪶🌹
