We say local, national and international. It is Mardin, because with her Arab, Kurd, Turk, Syriac and Yezidi; with her Khanefi, Shafi, Orthodox and Catholic; Mardin is a social lab which can be international in local, and local in national.
2. We say cultural and economic change. It is Mardin, because she is a Center in which feudalism gives way to capitalism; in which the Old City transforms in
to her originality while the New City re-borns together with her societal relationships; in which the trend towards her being the center of tourism in the East; and all of which give a new shape to the social life.
3. We say a constant dialog between the East and the West. It is Mardin, because she is the intersection point of Iraq-Syria-Turkey; because she is the borderline of the Middle East which is under the process of transformation through Arab Spring; because by the bond of blood and kinship, by the bond of trade, diplomacy and tourism, she connects the Middle East to the World via Turkey.
4. We say we will arouse social dynamics. Because, with her rapidly growing New City, with her enormous youth mobility thanks to the newly established university, with her Old City which can sustain the beauties of the old thanks to the little shops, stone houses and neighborhood relationships, she can both be a metropolis and a small city, both a center and a periphery.
5. We say sustainable development. It is Mardin because, there are a lot to find out about humanity; about change and preserving the beauty; and about which remains the same for five thousand years and which has developed for the last five years.

NİÇİN "MARDİN"?
1. Yerel, ulusal, uluslararası diyoruz. Arabı, Kürdü, Türkü, Süryanisi ve Yezidisiyle; Şafisi, Hanefisi, Ortodoksu ve Katoliğiyle, yerelde uluslararası, ulusalda yerel olabilen bir sosyal laboratuar niteliğinde olduğu için Mardin.
2. Sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik değişim diyoruz. Feodalizmin giderek kapitalizmde eridiği, eski şehrin orijinal şekline dönüşürken yeni şehrin tüm ilişki biçimleriyle yeniden doğduğu, doğuda turizmin başkenti olma eğiliminin hızla arttığı ve tüm bunların sosyal hayatı yeniden şekillendirdiği bir merkez olduğu için Mardin.
3. Doğu – Batı arası sürekli diyalog diyoruz. Irak-Suriye-Türkiye güzergahının kavşak noktası olduğu için; Arap Baharı ile yeniden şekillenen Ortadoğu’nun sınır kapısı olduğu için; kan ve akrabalık bağı, ticaret, diplomasi ve turizm bağı ile Ortadoğu’yu Türkiye’ye ve dünyaya bağladığı için Mardin.
4. Toplumsal dinamikleri harekete geçireceğiz diyoruz. Hızla büyüyen Yenişehir’iyle, yeni kurulan üniversitesi sayesinde başlayan devasa gençlik hareketliliğiyle, küçük esnafı, taş evleri ve komşuluklarıyla eskiye dair güzel olanları yaşatan Eski Mardin’iyle hem metropol hem taşra, hem merkez hem çevre olabildiği için Mardin.
5. Sürdürülebilir kalkınma diyoruz. Burada insana dair, değişime ve güzel olanı korumaya dair, beş bin yıldır değişmeyenden beş senedir gelişene dair öğrenilecek çok şey olduğu için Mardin.
