About the project ‘Finding Endometriosis using Machine Learning’ (FEMaLe).
IAAD is a partner of the HORIZON 2020 project FEMaLe (ID:101017562). 🌍🤝
The project Scalable Multi-Omics Platform (SMOP) 🧬 will be based on an open protocol 🔓 to enable adaptation and further development by healthcare institutions 🏥 and SMEs 💼 to improve the lives of people across Europe 🌍 and the world.
FEMaLe will develop a new and ground-breaking solution 💡, built on an agile, patient-centred approach 👩‍⚕️ and driven by existing and patient-shared data 📊.
The predictive and preventative mindset 🔮 of the concept is an opportunity to personalise healthcare delivery in Europe, and the integration of personal data donation 🤝 together with big data analytical tools 🧑‍💻 offers technological capabilities to empower and engage people in their own health and life, while simultaneously introducing market potentials for digital health solutions 💡.
FEMaLe will improve the quality of life ❤️ for people by enabling precision medicine 💉, faster diagnosis ⏱️, and tailored treatment 💊, ultimately reducing healthcare costs 💰 significantly.

About the project ‘Finding Endometriosis using Machine Learning’ (FEMaLe).
IAAD is a partner of the HORIZON 2020 project FEMaLe (ID:101017562). 🌍🤝
FEMaLe will develop and demonstrate the Scalable Multi-Omics Platform (SMOP) 🧬 that converts multi-omic person population datasets into a personalised predictive model 📊 to improve intervention along the continuum of care 🏥 for people with endometriosis.
FEMaLe will deliver and feasibility test:
Mobile health app 📱 for people with endometriosis,
Three clinical decision support (CDS) tools 💡 for healthcare providers,
Computer vision-based software tool 🖥️ for real-time augmented reality guided surgery 🏥 of endometriosis.
The mobile health app (WP5) 📱 and the three CDS tools (WP4 and WP6) 💻 will be co-created by both patients and healthcare providers 🧑‍⚕️ to ensure they meet the needs and requirements of all relevant stakeholders.
This will enable FEMaLe to combat the negative effects 💔 on patients, particularly the heavy impact on work, relationships of people with endometriosis, and challenges to healthcare providers in primary and secondary care 🏥.

About the project ‘Finding Endometriosis using Machine Learning’ (FEMaLe).
IAAD is a partner of the HORIZON 2020 project FEMaLe (ID:101017562). 🌍🤝
The main goal of FEMaLe is to personalise the early risk prediction of endometriosis, aiming to ensure individualised intervention and build knowledge for prognostic prevention by identifying subtypes of endometriosis.
We will develop and validate the Scalable Multi-Omics Platform (SMOP) 🧬🔬 that converts multi-omic person population datasets (phenotypic and genotypic) into a comprehensive and personalised predictive model to improve intervention along the continuum of care for people with endometriosis.
Further, FEMaLe will facilitate high-resolution stratification 🧑‍⚕️ of people with endometriosis, enabling the identification of subtype-specific risk factors ⚠️ and providing insight into potential new drug targets 💊 or drug repurposing opportunities 🔄.
This will enable shared decision-making 🗣️ in both primary and secondary care, forming part of a personalised pathway to raise awareness 🧠, health literacy 📚, and empowerment 💪 to prevent a reduction in a person's quality of life ❤️.

About the project ‘Finding Endometriosis using Machine Learning’ (FEMaLe).
IAAD is a partner of the HORIZON 2020 project FEMaLe (ID:101017562). 🌍🤝
The Challenge: The European healthcare systems (EHCS) are under pressure from a number of megatrends 📈. FEMaLe proposes solutions personalized to individual needs and healthcare contexts.
The challenges:
Increased ageing population 👵👴, leading to a growing number of people confronting one or often multiple chronic conditions 🏥 (i.e., multimorbidity).
Lack of coherent monitoring, data collection, and usage to support clinical decisions and treatments 🧠📊, ultimately reducing patient adverse events, diagnostic delays, misdiagnosis, or even lack of diagnosis altogether.
FEMaLe emphasizes endometriosis, a common inflammatory disease associated with pelvic pain and infertility 💔. It is characterized by lesions of endometrial-like tissue outside of the uterus. It is a persistent, often recurring disease found in people of all ethnic and social groups 🌍.
It is estimated that as many as 10% of people of reproductive age (from menarche to menopause) may be affected by endometriosis, equal to almost 200 million women worldwide 🌍💙.

About the project ‘Finding Endometriosis using Machine Learning’ (FEMaLe).
IAAD is a partner of the HORIZON 2020 project FEMaLe (ID:101017562). 🌍🤝
The project implements a Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) framework ⚖️💡. The activities within this framework consider the societal impact 🌱 on human life as a whole, including well-being, socioeconomics 💰, and health and care science 🏥—as the latter serves as a primary source of innovation and human life advancement.
Therefore, the following courses of action will be taken into consideration:
✅ Health and care beneficiaries, key players, and the academic environment 🎓 must recognize their responsibilities regarding societal impact, transparency in economic and non-economic activities, and the potential negative effects of research on the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis.
✅ Urban communities 🏙️ should also embrace this awareness and responsibility, particularly in upholding the rights of healthcare personnel, encouraging open access 🔗 to information about endometriosis, and supporting the role of women in health and care socioeconomics 👩‍⚕️💙.
