From November 20th to 28th, 2024, the picturesque village of Varbovo became a hub for youth empowerment through the impactful training course, "Active Youth Engagement: EU Youth Goals and Media Literacy." Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme (Project № 2024-1-BG01-KA151-YOU-000215309), the initiative successfully brought together 14 youth workers and young professionals from across Europe: Bulgaria, Hungary, Finland, Serbia, Romania, Türkiye.
The course aimed to equip participants with tools and skills to foster greater youth involvement in civic life while enhancing their media literacy in today’s digital age.
Key Achievements of the Project:

• Development and enhancement of skills in critical thinking, media literacy, and constructive dialogue to help youth workers address the challenges of the modern information landscape in their work with young people.
• Buildеа competencies to facilitate access to reliable sources of information and promote active civic engagement among marginalized youth groups.
• Improvеd work approaches with marginalized youth, focusing on strategies to ensure their access to credible information and inclusion in democratic processes.
• Established international networks and platforms for cooperation and exchange among youth workers.
Over the course of seven days, participants engaged in interactive workshops, role-playing games, and discussions, as well as media literacy sessions focused on evaluating trustworthy news sources and addressing challenges related to objectivity. Visits to local institutions, such as the Chuprene Municipality and Europe Direct Vidin, provided practical insights into civic engagement and guidance on combating misinformation. Intercultural evenings and historical tours strengthened the sense of community and celebrated cultural diversity.
