Cultural Ports from Aegean to the Black Sea
From Aegean to the Black Sea Medieval Ports in the Maritime Routes of the East
The aim of the project “LIMEN” is the promotion of the medieval city-ports from Aegean to Black Sea in order to contribute to the developments of the cultural, touristic, economical relations between the different states, cities and local communities. The primary and main f
ocus of the whole effort is to record and promote our common medieval cultural heritage, its charasteristics and its peculiarities as these are reflected in the monuments preserved city-ports of the area. Throughout our cooperation with scientific and cultural institutions from all the countries surrounding the wider region of the Black Sea and Aegean ( Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine and Georgia) 7 city-ports are included in the project and exhibition, which constitute a network of cultural site. The project is co-founded by the European program “ Joint Operational Program” and by national resources and is coordinated by the European Centre of Byzantine and Post Byzantine Monuments (E.K.B.M.M). For the implementation of the project, seven bodies of six countries cooperate who have under-taken the study, promotion and enhancement of the medieval cultural heritage of each country.
