“During the consultation session, I discovered new coordination spaces and felt encouraged by the potential for stronger collaboration.”
This reflection captures the spirit of the first round of consultation sessions in Damascus under the Bridging Voices project: “𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘆𝗿𝗶𝗮.” With 25 organizations in Damascus and 26 in Aleppo participating in consultation and peer-to-peer sessions.
This initiative, implemented by DEMAC - Diaspora Emergency Action & Coordination, the Danish Refugee Council / Dansk Flygtningehjælp Refugee Council in Syria, and the Syrian NGO Alliance (SNA), brought together members across women and youth-led groups, community-based and diaspora organizations, and civil society actors. The core aim is to enhance the quality, inclusiveness, and accountability of humanitarian coordination across Syria.
The consultations will continue throughout April and May, bringing in diverse stakeholders to develop practical recommendations that strengthen collaboration and improve coordinated support for Syrian communities.
This project is funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) through the H2H activation fund.
