WATAN is a leading Civil Society Organization delivering emergency relief, third sector support and long-term international development projects. We operate several integrated programs with the aim of addressing humanitarian emergency response and sustainable community revival through holistic and transformative approach. We believe in the role of Civil Society in the various pha

ses of intervention. Thus, we invest in supporting and developing Civil Society in our areas of reach. We also create platforms for coordination and integration to maximize impact on communities served. To achieve our goal, we seek to be the preferred partner for international agencies in areas of specialization and reach. WATAN was established in 2012 as a framework merging number organizations and groups that had extensive community development work going back to 2006. We deliver program that rebuild lives and maintain community social cohesion by providing transformative programs in reliefs, post-conflict-peace-building, education, economic empowerment, advocacy and development of strong Civil Society.

ضمن أنشطة مشروع التماسك المجتمعي الذي تنفذه وطن بالتعاون مع AWO، تم تنفيذ نشاط تشجير في قسطون بمشاركة فاعلة من أبناء المجتمع المحلي والأطفال وطلاب المدارس، بهدف تعزيز روح التعاون والانتماء المجتمعي.

ويأتي هذا النشاط ضمن جهود وطن لدعم إعادة دمج العائدين وتعزيز التماسك المجتمعي من خلال مبادرات مشتركة تسهم في بناء الثقة بين مختلف مكونات المجتمع.

As part of the community cohesion project implemented by WATAN in cooperation with AWO, a tree-planting activity was carried out in Qastoun with the active participation of local community members, children, and school students, aiming to strengthen the spirit of cooperation and community belonging.

This activity comes within WATAN’s efforts to support the reintegration of returnees and enhance community cohesion through joint initiatives that contribute to building trust among different segments of society.

تُعد شجرة الزيتون من أقدم الأشجار المزروعة في العالم، وتتميز بقدرتها على التكيّف مع الظروف المناخية القاسية، ما يجعلها مصدرًا مهمًا للغذاء والدخل لدى آلاف العائلات.

نظّمت المؤسسة العامة لبنوك الدم، بالتعاون مع وطن وبدعم من نوراك النرويجية، ورشة تدريبية متخصصة في التنميط الظاهري لكريات الدم الحمراء في حمص، بمشاركة كوادر من بنوك الدم والمشافي.

ركّزت الورشة على أهمية التنميط في تحسين توافق وحدات الدم، والحد من المضاعفات المناعية لدى مرضى نقل الدم المتكرر، خاصة مرضى التلاسيميا، من خلال تطبيقات عملية وأساليب حديثة.

The General Directorate of Blood Banks, in collaboration with Watan and with support from Norak Norway, organized a specialized training workshop in Homs on red blood cell phenotyping, with the participation of staff from blood banks and hospitals.

The workshop focused on the importance of phenotyping in improving blood unit compatibility and reducing immune complications among patients who require frequent transfusions—especially thalassemia patients—through practical applications and modern techniques.

ضمن جهود دعم سبل العيش وتعزيز الأمن الغذائي في ريفي إدلب وحماة، باشرت وطن تنفيذ مشروع دعم المزارعين في قريتي قسطون والصحن.

استهدف المشروع 36 مزارعًا و57 امرأة، عبر تزويدهم بمدخلات زراعية متنوعة، شملت شتول خضار، وأسمدة، وشبكات ري بالتنقيط، والملش الزراعي، إضافة إلى مادة الكمبوست، بما يسهم في تحسين الإنتاج وتعزيز استدامة مصادر الدخل.

ومن المقرر أن تتضمن المرحلة القادمة دعمًا إضافيًا يشمل تغطية تكاليف حراثة وتجهيز الأراضي، إلى جانب دعم تسويق المنتجات الزراعية عبر التعاونية الزراعية في بلدة قسطون.

As part of efforts to support livelihoods and enhance food security in the rural areas of Idlib and Hama, Watan teams have initiated the implementation of a project to support farmers in the villages of Qastoun and Al-Sahn.

The project targeted 36 farmers and 57 women by providing them with a range of agricultural inputs, including vegetable seedlings, fertilizers, drip irrigation systems, agricultural mulch, and compost. This support aims to improve agricultural productivity and strengthen the sustainability of income sources.

The upcoming phase is set to include additional support, covering the costs of land plowing and preparation, as well as assistance in marketing agricultural products through the agricultural Mcooperative in the town of Qastoun.

في إطار جهودها المستمرة لتعزيز قدرات الكوادر، نفّذت وطن، بالتنسيق والتعاون مع الإدارة العامة لبنوك الدم في وزارة الصحة، تدريبًا متخصصًا على برنامج Excel لفريق بنوك الدم، وذلك ضمن مشروع النورواك.

ركّز التدريب على تطوير مهارات تنظيف البيانات وتحليلها، إلى جانب إعداد التقارير وعرض المعلومات بطريقة مبسّطة وفعّالة باستخدام الرسوم البيانية في Excel.

💡 يهدف هذا التدريب إلى دعم الفرق الفنية والارتقاء بجودة العمل المعتمد على البيانات في القطاع الصحي.

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen staff capacities, WATAN, in coordination and collaboration with the General Directorate of Blood Banks at the Ministry of Health, conducted a specialized training on Microsoft Excel for blood bank teams, as part of the NORWAC project.

The training focused on developing skills in data cleaning and analysis, as well as report preparation and presenting information in a simplified and effective way using charts in Excel.

💡 This training aims to support technical teams and enhance the quality of data-driven work in the healthcare sector.

في إطار جهودها المستمرة لدعم مربي الأغنام والحفاظ على الثروة الحيوانية، أطلقت المنظومة البيطرية في #وطن، بالتعاون مع جمعية حماية وتنمية أغنام العواس، حملة تحصين وقائية ضد مرض الجمرة الخبيثة (الحمى الفحمية).

ويُعد هذا المرض من الأمراض المتوطنة في سوريا، حيث يؤدي إلى نفوق مفاجئ في قطعان الأغنام، متسببًا بخسائر اقتصادية كبيرة للمربين. ويُشكل الالتزام بالتحصين السنوي في التوقيت المناسب خطوة أساسية للوقاية من المرض والحد من انتشاره.

As part of its ongoing efforts to support sheep breeders and preserve livestock resources, the veterinary system in WATAN, in cooperation with the Awassi Sheep Protection and Development Association, has launched a preventive vaccination campaign against anthrax.

This disease is considered endemic in Syria, as it leads to sudden deaths in sheep flocks, causing significant economic losses for breeders. Adhering to annual vaccination at the appropriate time is a fundamental step in preventing the disease and limiting its spread.

As part of the "Rural Economy Support through Agricultural Cooperatives Project", WATAN has established an agricultural cooperative in Qastoun, bringing together vegetable farmers and sheep breeders under a unified, community-driven model.

This intervention reflects WATAN’s strategy of empowering local communities, strengthening livelihoods, and building sustainable production systems:

🔹 36 farmers supported with vegetable seedlings and agricultural inputs
🔹 35 livestock breeders received veterinary services
🔹 57 women-headed households empowered to establish home gardens, with seedlings, agricultural inputs, and drip irrigation systems

Looking ahead, the cooperative will market vegetables and dairy products through a "food processing unit", generating income that feeds back into the cooperative fund—ensuring continuity, growth, and long-term impact.
