Fethiye International Group - FIG FIG Children's Charity is a group of volunteers that run a charity to raises money to help children It's true, and FIG have arranged trips in the past.

Fethiye International Group or FIG is a group of volunteers that run a charity that raises money for the benefit of local children. FIG are well known for the fantastic work they do providing, classroom and playground equipment, books and stationery for local schools. Did you know that they also help and support individual children and families as well? FIG pays special school fees for an autistic child who lives in the Fethiye area

FIG are supporting a family with medical costs for a child that will go blind if she doesn't receive an operation to remove a cyst from behind her eye. Can you even begin to get your head around the fact that there are children in the mountain villages who have never seen the sea or played on a beach? The look on the faces of these children is priceless! The FIG committee and volunteers work tirelessly to raise money to enable them to continue to help the children of Fethiye and the local area.

Don't forget from Monday, our new opening hours will be Mondays. Wednesdays and Fridays, 11am until 2.45pm.

Well for the last time we, Ski (Norman) and Ann-Marie post on behalf of FIG. We are delighted to say our handover is complete and we leave FIG in an incredibly strong position in the hands of the remaining management team, fantastic volunteers and FETAV support.

The shop will continue to operate as normal and remains busy with customers and donations.

Financial control will continue to sit with the management team with ongoing support from FETAV. The existing commitments to bursaries and ongoing care for children with complex support needs will be supported. The charity, with the continued support of this community, is also in a good position to look at supporting new requests for medical and educational needs

Unfortunately for the time being monthly coffee mornings will stop. If this were to change it will be announced here.

Personally, we cannot thank everyone who has supported these monthly events enough. In our time we had coffee morning in Meydan and then moved to Karma. We are extremely grateful for their support and as Karma continues we wish them every success. We are thankful to our bakers and local businesses who donated prizes for our raffles. A special vote of thanks from us goes Mulberry Tree for always supporting coffee morning by donating cakes each month

Thank you to everyone and please do all you can to continue to support this fantastic local children's charity, the good you have done is truly amazing. We are truly honoured to have been a small part of such an amazing team. Keep up the great work 😊

Power outage Tuesday 23 June

There is a planned power outage tomorrow between 11am and 2pm affecting Baha Sikman Cad so that means our shop will be without power

Obviously we can't have the team in with no power in this heat so the shop will be closed tomorrow

For information, after 8 years as part of the FIG management team we (Norman aka Ski and I) have decided the time has come to step away from FIG to enable us to have more time for ourselves

Our time with FIG has been incredibly rewarding and the charity has done so much for children in our local community. We have worked with an amazing team of dedicated volunteers and the team in FETAV.

Our FIG shop will continue to operate as is with our fellow management team members Linda and Ann at the helm

The important financial control role will be picked up by our main contact in FETAV who is aware of many aspects Ski covers and will receive a comprehensive handover.

Ski and I will start our formal handover in three weeks time but even after the handover we will be able to help out as things bed in. We know that we are handing FIG over in an extremely strong position and will shortly issue an update on our finances and summarise the projects we have supported and those we will continue to support

We cannot express how grateful we are to our volunteers, the FETAV team, to all of the local businesses who have supported us and to everyone in the community who have supported FIG over the years. We know your support will continue and FIG will continue to thrive
