During our InnovatorsLab Job Shadowing activity in İznik, participants explored innovative approaches to peacebuilding and conflict transformation through game-based learning methodologies. Throughout the programme, sessions focused on empathy, youth participation, communication, intercultural understanding and the role of interactive learning in engaging Generation Z. Participants exchanged ideas on peacebuilding practices, discussed different approaches and reflected on how these methods can be adapted to diverse social and cultural contexts.
One of the key areas of the activity focused on the project’s core methodology: escape room-based learning. Participants worked on mini escape room activities, discussed implementation methods and prepared game-based scenarios to better understand how experiential learning can support peace education and youth engagement. Empathy cards, reflection-based activities and collaborative discussions also supported the learning process by encouraging participants to better understand emotions, perspectives and conflict situations.
The programme further included local school visits where participants implemented dance, music and interactive activities with children, observing how creative and participatory methods can foster engagement across different age groups. In parallel, dissemination activities, online meetings related to Erasmus+ KA2 cooperation projects and exchanges on project practices continued throughout the week.
The activity also created opportunities for intercultural dialogue through meetings with local Gen Z youth, sports activities and cultural sharing sessions where participants introduced their countries and exchanged experiences. By combining observation, practice, discussion and collaboration, the job shadowing activity offered a meaningful learning environment while strengthening international cooperation and innovative approaches to peacebuilding education.
