Quick update,

I went to see Ruby yesterday, she's doing much better.

She needs to increase the amount of food she's eating then she might be able to come home 🤞

She's obviously not out of the woods but she's made it over hurdle two 💕🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏

Please keep Ruby in your thoughts, she's currently having emergency surgery 😕💔.

On Saturday she had to have her wound re stitched as it had come apart again. After more necrotic skin was cut off and she was re stitched up we went home. Yesterday she didn't eat anything but drank a lot of water so today I brought her back to the clinic. She's had a blood test and has now got an infection, probably from the bite and delay in treatment.

I took her home this evening and as we got home it was clear she was very unwell, I messaged Erkan and sent a video and after he instructed me to do some special tests and send another video he requested she be taken back to the, now closed, clinic urgently.

A speedy 45 minute drive and Erkan was there waiting for me. X-rays done, confirmation she's got bloat (GDV) and both Bilal and Yagmur have been called in to do emergency surgery. It's risky but urgent and her only chance !! I stayed with her while she went to sleep and now they are working on saving her life 🤞🙏

I'm very lucky and eternally grateful to have such wonderful vet staff who are dedicated enough to come back in after closing to try and save her life.

Yesterday Nazar messaged with a photo of this little girl. She, of course, ended up bringing her home with her last night. Her name is Gretchen, she's around 4-5 weeks old. She does get around but obviously needs to build up strength in her back legs as she gets bigger her mobility should get better.

Today I've taken on 2 extra kittens, the blind boy that was delayed in coming here so he could be vaccinated and protected as much as possible, his name is Macro. Also a ginger kitten who has a cold and was found alone, the finder wasn't able to keep him due to travel and allergies at home. Also a female adult cat that had been in an accident and has had spinal surgery. The vets have tried and tried to find someone to take her on to no avail so as a last resort I was contacted. She's supposed to be friendly but has already bitten me 😳. I'm hoping it's just fear and she will settle. 🤞

I've had to take Puck to the vets again today as she started going downhill again last night after a week of gradually getting better. Bilal did another blood test and her liver seems to be a little better but it seems now she has neurological fip 😭. She's not good but is still fighting. She's had some extra meds at the vets and I've given her more at home and will be keeping a very close eye on her 🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏

Some may remember I was going to take a couple of dogs from a rescue that was closing down as I knew one of the dogs and the other dog had come from the same original home. Unfortunately there's been a delay due to circumstances here but on Thursday evening i received a message from the rescue says the dog I knew well, Ruby, had been attacked and was injured and they were unable to afford to take her to the vets so she would have to be put to sleep if I didn't step in. I of course agreed to take her and arranged that she be delivered to Erkan the following morning.

The wound was a fairly large and a few days old and had already gone necrotic but Erkan has managed to sort her out and get her stitched up, he had been worried there wouldn't be enough skin to stitch and I went and collected her Thursday evening. She's now residing in the separated area within the dog section till she recovers and the other dogs are used to her.

The other dog I was going to take has found a home in Poland 🤞

Other news ...

Little Aveline is getting better, has gained weight and her snotty nose is gradually reducing. She is a total lap cat as well 💕. She's still residing in the lounge for her quarantine.

Yesterday Jay brought a dove into the lounge, it was still alive and I managed to get it off him. One foot seemed to have an issue and several feathers were missing but after a night crated in the bathroom they've recovered and was released this morning where they gracefully flew off resting in the top of a nearby tree 💕

Yesterday I invested in a new bed for Barney, with the weather getting colder he's getting stiffer and needed something more suitable, he was very happy with the purchase and rolled around in it like a puppy for ages 🤣💕.

Last night I also collected a cat from the clinic that had been left by Şengul. He's an old boy who was struggling to eat due to a bad mouth. Bilal had treated him for me before I got there and I will continue antibiotics at home. He's such a sweet cat and is already settling in. I'm not sure if he's been neutered, his 🥜 are bald so he either very recently has or has hairless 🥜🤣. I will check again today to confirm and once he's better if he needs neutering I will get him done.

I'm slowly on the med and slowly catching up with chores. Today I need to give the kitten room a clean and the bedroom as well as do the usual feeding, watering and medicating jobs.

Man's still down but has managed to get some stuff done today including a vet trip with Minor who's not doing well at all 😕. Found her last night and stabilised her and she's been to see Erkan and Bilal today and is on a treatment plan at home.

Aveline, soon to be renamed Glue if she carry's on with her current behaviour 🤣💕, is doing much much better, has finally started eating by herself yesterday and is gaining weight 🎉🤞. Still a way to go but seems to be going in the right direction. 🤞

As well as a vet trip I've managed to catch up with cleaning the kitten room 🎉 which is a big relief, will do more tomorrow elsewhere.

Winter is definitely on its way, with it raining most of yesterday and much cooler evenings. I now need to start preparing for the cooler damper weather so the sun shades will be coming down and soon some of the winter boarding will be going up. A colder, windier, wetter winter is forecast due to the El Niño effect which is a slight concern and I want to make sure I'm prepared before hand. 🤞

Man down today so taking as much of a rest as I can. Still have to feed, medicate and do the toilets though.

Little Aveline, as she's now called, seems to be doing a bit better but is insisting she has cuddles 💕

Very quick update as I'm beyond tired now.

Arrived early this morning, had a short sleep and have been getting back into it.

Have had a vet visit with a kitten that Yeliz found this morning, she's never seen this kitten before but she's turned up, super friendly and super sick with a chest infection and staphylococcus. She's going to be residing in a crate in the lounge, it's the safest place I've got for her having had panleukopenia here recently. I didn't have a choice, it was that or return her to the streets to die a horrible slow death.

While at the vets I collected Reggie who was there while i was away, Hanson has stayed with Erkan for the time being till we can get on top of his bladder infection which is causing issues with his kidneys and isn't helping with express him daily.

On the way home I collected some cat litter which I will put away tomorrow.

Nazar, as usual, as done a great job looking after everyone for me. 💕🥰

Its been very busy here at Waifs and Strays and Mam has been working hard to sort things out. She's don't lots of cleaning as well a too many vet trips and caring for too many really sick one, that panleukopenia hasn't left and a few more have had it sadly died 😭💔. There's been some other unrelated deaths too, its been quite horrible really 💔😭

Auntie Shonagh has been up again helping Mam, she's a really good worker and organiser and is a great help to Mam when she comes 💕

Mam has had to go back to the UK for a few days but she's left us in the capable hands of Auntie Nazar again who's doing a wonderful job looking after us all. 💕
