Yesterday was one of those whirl wind days. I was up early to go and get some building materials for work that was supposed to start today in the kitchen. Then I took 4 cats and Rex the dog to the vets.
Rex had been attacked by some of the others, probably Jim!! while I was away and Nazar and Birol had got him to Nazar's clinic where Alper and Nazar had stitched him up and gave his teeth a clean and he had a general health check as he's getting on a bit.
I got home and dropped the cats off, went back to get more building materials as couldn't fit them all in the car earlier then on my way back stopped to check in on a neighbours cat id been caring for after he'd had to have his tail off and give their kittens some parasite treatment and antibiotics.
I then got home having to park away from the house due to a water mains burst, navigated a very slippy road to walk home, sorted the zoo out and went to bed expecting to get up early to get ready for Mesut to start work.
The dogs had other plans as were none stop barking. So I went out to sort them out to find Barney hyperventilating, boiling hot and having vomited white bile/foam, he could walk without stumbling and his tongue was very red. I knew something was seriously wrong π³
I cooled him down with some water and made him lie on a wet blanket and messaged Erkan and Nazar. Being so late it was a bit of a Hail Mary that Erkan would see it but Nazar did and came straight up to the house. Barney then started vomiting blood and foam π³. Nazar messaged Alper who jsut happened, at nearly midnight, to still be at the clinic and after reviewing the video I sent him told us to get Barney to the clinic. So off we go, me still in my pj's as time is of the essence!
Alper and Nazar set to work trying to stabilise Barney, they thought initially he'd been in contact with a toad but after more symptoms appeared it was clear ge had some how been poisoned by something like slug or rat poison π³. This is something I obvious don't use and neither does Birol. Whether someone has intentionally come down by the dog area and thrown something in or if he's happened to catch a sick mouse, bird etc we don't know π€·ββοΈ
Nazar called Birol at 2.30 in the morning and asked him to check on the other dogs who all seemed ok. π
Barney had 3 lots of blood tests which gradually got worse then after some extra meds seem to stabilise a little, his treatment finished at 3.30 this morning π³. It was decided as he needed to start more treatment in only a few short hours time and we really didn't want him walking too far to spread any toxins further around his system that he would spend the night at the clinic where, thankfully, Nazar has found his condition a little better this morning and has started him on more medicines.
Fate obviously played a huge hand on the fact Barney is still alive this morning and has a fighting chance of getting over this, he's not a young dog.
I cannot express my thanks enough to Nazar, again, for getting back out of bed to come and deal with an emergency and for Alper staying at the clinic to wait for us. They've both had very little sleep and are both back at work this morning π³
I will go and see Barney a little later on and we will decide if he's spending another night at the clinic or coming home.
In between all of these drama's I was dealing with Εengul and Yeliz who had contacted me regarding a sick cat and kitten. More later on them.
Needless to say building work has been postponed till Monday which gives me more time to get ready.
