Few experiences are as exhilarating as well as intellectually energising as the feeling of being part of an MUN session. It educates, shapes one’s personality in tremendously positive ways, generates great and thrilling thoughts that challenge one’s previous paradigms. Brief, in bringing together a variety of people from diverse backgrounds, any MUN conference seeks, and inherently so, to broaden
its attendees’ horizons and equip them with tools necessary to navigate in and manoeuver a world as as increasingly connected as ours. Hence, in the spirit of novelty and commitment to universal MUN ideals, dear prospective attendees, it is simultaneously a huge honour and an inexpressible excitement to have been granted the opportunity to be together in the forthcoming months and share what will probably become some of our indelible experiences in an atmosphere filled with felicity and the joy of togetherness in diversity. Having said these, as this year’s Secretary General, it is my honour and pleasure to welcome you to the First Edition of YBUMUN, the Model United Nations hosted by the University of Yıldım Beyazit and organised by the YBUMUN Society. I will have the privilege to be your humble host next 18th to 20th March, 2016 in Ankara, Turkey’s wonderful capital city. Dear prospective attendees, YBUMUN is a fresh and highly interactive small-scale conference designed to provide valuable and unforgettable experiences to both beginners and advanced delegates. YBUMUN promises you all to have the best opportunity to be part of thrilling experiences as delegates through thought-provoking debates on global issues—thus sharpening your skills to make effective public speeches, write effective resolutions; hence also helpful in building your leadership skills and forging new relationships. As a prequisite general knowledge for anyone interested in MUN, our tasks generally revolve around emulating the procedures and the functioning of the United Nations which, as you know, is a global peace-keeping organization. It is currently helping resolve major humanitairian and security crises in a number of countries in Sub Saharian Africa and the Middle-East. Consequently, in holding YBUMUN, we seek to contribute to paving the way for an equipped and educated youth ready and informed enough to tackle the intricacies and shifting Dynamics of regional and global politics. With all that said, on behalf of YBUMUN in general, and specifically on behalf of the entire academic staff and secretariat, again I welcome you to be part of the premiere Yildirim Beyazit MUN Society.
