BEST, Board of European Students of Technology is a constantly growing non-profit and non-political organisation. Since 1989 BEST has been providing communication, cooperation and exchange opportunities for students all over Europe.
95 Local BEST Groups in 33 countries are creating a growing, well-organised, powerful, young and innovative student network. More than 4800 members are involved in th
e day-to-day development of our services and almost one million students are reached through our events and initiatives. BEST promotes "empowered diversity“ and helps European students of technology become more internationally minded by reaching a better understanding of European cultures and developing the ability to work and volunteer in a global environment. Students of technology are given the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in topics which complement their technical education. BEST is creating the context in which students can share knowledge by organising academic courses, leisure events, engineering competitions, educational symposiums, training events and cultural exchanges. On the other hand, BEST also strives to broaden the job market horizons through career related events (job fairs, company days, workshops, etc) and an international career center. Last but not least, BEST has developed its own training system; therefore, its members have also the opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge by participating in training events on technical and soft skills. By the time Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tokyay, our Engineering Faculty Dean then, member of the board of SEFI, had become aware of BEST, he gave an advice to some of our friends to join the BACo as an observer. In summer 2006, we prepared our application, and then BEST Ankara was officially invited to President Meeting 2006 held in October in Ghent. As the result of changes in the admission and rejection regulations, LBG Ankara was the first local BEST group whose observer and baby member statuses were accepted at the same meeting. Our first event was a workshop organised in 2007, also in this workshop, OST (Open Space Technology) was used in BEST for the first time. Our first course, "Enjoy Red & White", was organised in summer, 2007. In GA2008 Tallinn, our full-membership was voted and LBG Ankara became a full member of BEST.
