A protocol was signed to strengthen cooperation between Türkiye and South Korea in the field of humanitarian assistance.

The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Sukjong BOO, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ankara; Kihyuk Nam, Türkiye Representative of the Korean Red Cross; our President Prof. Dr. Fatma Meriç Yılmaz; and Alper Küçük, our Director General of International Relations and Migration Services.

Through this cooperation, the aim is to enhance disaster response capacity, develop joint projects, and deliver more effective support to people in need.

As part of efforts to strengthen Uzbekistan’s migration management, representatives visiting Türkiye from Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the Institute for Legislation and Policy Analysis under the Presidency of Uzbekistan, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Uzbekistan, and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ankara, along with the representatives from IOM Türkiye, paid a study visit to Türk Kızılay Ankara Community Center to closely observe the activities of the Community Center.

The delegation, accompanied by Eda Çok Öztürk, Head of Migrant Protection Services, were provided information on Türk Kızılay’s activities in the field of migration services.

“Strategic Roundtable on Corporate Power for Early Action & Real Impact” organized in cooperation with the Turkish Red Crescent and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), was held in Istanbul.

At the meeting, attended by our President Fatma Meriç Yılmaz and IFRC Secretary General Jagan Chapagain, the Disaster Response Emergency Fund (DREF) mechanism was introduced to private sector representatives, and opportunities for collaboration to strengthen rapid disaster response and forecast-based early action capacity were discussed.

As part of the programme, which brought together public institutions, private sector representatives, and humanitarian actors, the DREF model, field applications, and opportunities for inter-stakeholder cooperation were reviewed.

The meeting, which was also attended by our Director General for International Affairs and Migration Services, Alper Küçük, provided an important platform for discussing the integration of private sector contributions in financing, technology, and logistics into humanitarian operations.

Ambassador Ali Buhedma, President of the International Islamic Committee of the Red Crescent (IICRC), and Director General Dr. Mohamed H. Elasbali visited our President, Prof. Dr. Fatma Meriç Yılmaz, at the Kırımlı Dr. Aziz Bey Building.

Also attending the meeting was our Director General of International Affairs and Migration Services, Alper Küçük. The parties discussed the deepening humanitarian crises in our region and joint solution mechanisms to address them.

Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the IICRC during the 51st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers held in Istanbul in 2025, the parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening operational cooperation between the IICRC Regional Coordination Office and the OIC Red Network under the Turkish Red Crescent.
