President Sert paid a working visit to Azerbaijan

Mr. Devlet Sert, Vice-President of the HAK-İŞ Confederation and President of the Öz Sağlık-İş Health and Social Services Workers’ Union, paid a working visit to Azerbaijan and held discussions with his counterparts in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan.

As part of the working visit programme in Baku, an agreement covering bilateral cooperation and the exchange of expertise was signed with the Azerbaijan Healthcare Workers' Trade Union (Azerbaycan Respublikası Sehhiye İşçileri Hemkarlar İttifakı) and a high level meeting was held with the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation (Azerbaycan Hemkarlar İttifakları Konfederasyonu - AHİK).

Mr. Devlet Sert, Vice-President of the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation and President of the Öz Sağlık-İş Health and Social Services Workers’ Union, keeps on his international union contacts in Kazakhstan.

As part of his international union contacts, Mr. Sert visited the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan (FTURK) and the Union of Workers in Medicine and Related Fields (QazMed). During the visit, a cooperation agreement suggestiong bilateral cooperation and exchange of knowledge and experience between the two unions was signed.

President Sert participated in an OHS Workshop in Mongolia

Mr. Devlet Sert, our Union President, took part in the Occupational Health and Safety Workshop organised by the Central Asian Council of Health Trade Unions and hosted by the Mongolian Health Workers’ Union (MHWU), with participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Mongolia and Türkiye.

The workshop addressed the occupational health and safety risks faced by healthcare workers in their working lives, measures to protect workers’ rights, health and safety, and cooperation opportunities among the participated countries.

Mr. Sert informed the participants about union activities being carried out in the field of occupational health and safety (OHS) in Türkiye as well as on specific measures oriented to improving safe working conditions of health and social services workers.

President Mr. Sert held discussions in Mongolia and a bilateral cooperation agreement signed with the Mongolian Health Workers Union

Mr. Devlet Sert, Vice-President of the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation and President of the Öz Sağlık-İş Health and Social Services Workers’ Union, held fruitful and important discussions in Mongolia in the scope of his visit programme in order to advance industrial relations, working life and union rights of the labourers as well as in order to develop union cooperation between Mongolia and Türkiye.

Further to discussions between delegations of the both unions, a bilateral cooperation agreement was signed by Mr. Devlet Sert, President of the Öz Sağlık-İş Health and Social Services Workers’ Union and by Mrs. Narantuya Chagnaa, President of the Mongolian Health Workers Union (MHWU).

WE DISCUSSED OUR UNION’S PENDING MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION WITH PSI GENERAL SECRETARY

Mr. Devlet Sert, Our Union President, met the Public Services International high-level executives and officers in Geneva, Switzerland in order to discuss our Union’s pending membership application.

Our Union Delegation that is in Geneva for the 114th session of the International Labour Conference covered Mr. Devlet Sert that is President of the Öz Sağlık-İş Health and Social Services Union and Vice-President of the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation together with Mr. Muhammet Esat Eyvaz, Vice-President for Financial Issues, Mr. Fadlı Erdem, General Secretary, Mr. İlyas Şeker, Chief Legal Advisor, Mr. Uğur Müftüoğlu, International Relations Coordinator, Mr. Mehmet Selim Ahi, Advocate of our Union.

Mr. Sert, Our Union President, held a comprehensive meeting with Mr. Daniel Bertossa who is the PSI General Secretary and Mr. Baba Aye, the PSI Health & Social Services Officer by demanding our union’s PSI membership application which has been awaiting and pending for years to be concluded soon.

By reminding of our Union’s membership application which has been pending for a few years, Mr. Sert, once again emphasized the strong organised structure and representation power of our union in the field of health and social services in Türkiye.

President Sert discussed our Union’s membership process with EPSU General Secretary

Mr. Devlet Sert, President of the Öz Sağlık-İş Health and Social Services Union and Vice-President of the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation, met with representatives of EPSU, the umbrella organization of the European public services trade union movement as a part of his contiuning working visit programme in Europe.

Our Union President, Mr. Devlet Sert, discussed our Union’s membership process to EPSU/PSI with Mr. Jan Willem Goudriaan, General Secretary of the European Federation of Public Services Unions (EPSU) and other officials in Brussels, capital city of Belgium, on June 09th, 2026.

Our Union President Mr. Sert met with Mr. Jan Willem Goudrian, the EPSU General Secretary and other officials, at the EPSU head office for a comprehensive discussion by focusing on the development of international trade union cooperation, particularly our union’s ongoing membership process to EPSU/PSI.

THE LEADERSHIP IN THE TURKISH HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES SECTOR REMAINS UNCHANGED: THE ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ IS AT THE TOP OF THE HEAP WITH 217,776 MEMBERS

Our Union has, which is steadily expanding and fortifying the labour struggle throughout the country, once again demonstrated its organised power with official union member statistics published by the Turkish Labour and Social Security Ministry on July 28th, 2026.

The said ministry published the “Statistics on the Number of Workers in Sectors and the Number of Union Members for the of 2026-July era” through the Turkish Official Gazette’s issue (Resmi Gazette) on 28 July 2026. The relevant communiqué once again confirmed the leadership and trust of our union in Turkish health and social services sector with 217,776 members.

Mr. Devlet Sert is, the Öz Sağlık-İş Health and Social Services Workers’ Union President and the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation Vice-President, deemed worthy of an award by a Turkish media conglomerate whose original title is “BY Medya Group” which makes significant contributions into Turkish publishing life through various daily and periodical publications.

Our Union President Mr. Sert was granted with the “Union President of the Year” award within the scope of the Global Awards by “BY Medya Group” under the theme of “Global Achievements, Common Future“.

AWARD CEREMONY HELD IN ISTANBUL ON 17 OCTOBER 2026
President Devlet Sert has been deemed worthy of the “Union President of the Year Award” by the Selection Committee due to his successful trade union activities at national and international levels, his significant contributions to the global labour movement, and his effective civil society leadership.

Mr. Sert will receive his “Union President of the Year Award” at a ceremony which will be held in Istanbul on October 17th, 2026.

THE ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ KITCHEN IN GAZA PROVIDES HOT MEALS TO 1,500 PEOPLE EVERY DAY
The Öz Sağlık-İş Trade Union has been keeping on maintaining hope to the Gazaians who have been abandoned by the world through the Gaza Kitchen Project in collaboration with its partners and stakeholders in the said territory since the World Health Organization (WHO) drew attention to the severe humanitarian crisis and the threat of famine in Gaza Strip, Palestine.

Jordanian Unionists Visited Our Union

The General Federation of Jordanian Trade Union (GFJTU) delegation visited our Union head office and met Our Union President Mr. Devlet Sert on August 11th, 2026.
