SPRING UPDATE 2026
Hi,
Check out our Spring Update at: https://safehaven4refugees.org/updates
We are on the ground in northwest Syria and Uganda, putting food in the hands of those who need it most.
In Syria, your generous giving is making a powerful impact — in March alone we distributed over 300 food bags to some of the most vulnerable families in the region.
Uganda now shelters nearly 2 million refugees. The Sudanese population alone surged from 16,694 in January 2024 to over 95,000 by 2026 — driven by what the UN calls the world's most devastating humanitarian crisis: over 12 million displaced, widespread famine, and more than 20,000 civilian deaths.
In Uganda we are providing food aid to South Sudanese and Sudanese refugees, many fleeing Darfur. We also distributed corn seeds and hoes, equipping families to grow their own food. Several families told us something that has stayed with us: "We can now have breakfast too." For many, one meal a day had been their norm. Your support changes that.
Thank you — your compassion remains a true blessing to countless lives.

Ramadan Mubarak!
We delivered aid to needy residents of Northwestern Syria during first weeks of Ramadan.
Delivery of food boxes to 450 orphan families,
Distribution of 650 hot iftar meals in the rural camps,
Other aid to 60 needy families and four sheep sacrificed — a traditional in which families share meat with those in need — to
to orphans and disadvantaged families living in rural camps.

While many families returned their homes following the end of conflicts in Syria, there are significant number of people still live in camps. Because of the devastating conflicts, Syria remains one of the highest orphan rate counties.
Thank you for your support!

Hayırlı Ramazanlar!

Ramazan ayının ilk günlerinde Kuzeybatı Suriye'de yaşayan ihtiyaç sahiplerine yardım faaliyetleri gerçekleştirdik. Özellikle yetim ve dezavantajlı ihtiyaç sahibi ailelere yönelik Ramazan çalışmamızda;

Seven million Syrians are internally displaced. Your gifts delivered desperately needed food to women in tent cities enduring impossible conditions. Thank you!
We're returning to Syria in February to help those in tents for Ramadan. 90% of Syrians live below the poverty line—many families survive on $20 or less per month. Please contact us if you'd like to help. The need is great and they're so grateful for your support.

One of our partner organizations Safe Haven for Refugees has just launched their year-end campaign for Sudanese and South Sudanese refugees in Uganda—families who fled the poorest country in the world and now live in Bidi Bidi, the second largest refugee settlement on earth.
While we continue serving refugees in Turkey, we made three trips last year to help South Sudanese refugees and are expanding in 2026 to serve both Sudanese and South Sudanese families. Thank you for your help in advance!

This December campaign is different. Your Giving Tuesday gift this year will directly fund our 2026 operations and provide critical aid in Africa. Grants and your regular gifts help fund specific projects—the food security program, student aid, farming seeds for refugees, and medical camps. But operational costs—staff, logistics, coordination—make all of that possible. Your Giving Tuesday gift will help keep our team on the ground so we can run those projects throughout 2026.
At Bidi Bidi refugee settlement in Uganda, we've already:
• Helped perform nearly 200 surgeries (including 103 cataract operations restoring sight)
• Delivered seeds and farming tools for 100 hectares of cultivation
• Established our Food Security Program for 100 refugee families
• Donated $80,000 in surgical equipment to the local Yumbe Regional hospital
Recent aid stoppages mean these families now face increased hunger. Some are being forced to consider returning to war zones.
If you are able, we are very grateful for gifts to help us continue this work in 2026. Your past generosity has already changed lives and these families do need your help as we expand our work to needier places. Thanks for considering this!

They've Already Fled Everything. Now They Need You.
South Sudanese refugees are the poorest people fleeing
South Sudanese refugees are the poorest people fleeing from the poorest country in the world. They've lost everything—homes, livelihoods, loved ones—and now survive in settlements with almost no resources. International aid has dried up. Without your help this December, our lifeline to these families disappears in 2026.

Meet Rayan, one of the 90 girls on our Student Sponsorship Program for the past two years
Reyan, a bright young refugee student in Adana Turkiye, lives with her mother and widowed sister in challenging circumstances. Having lost their father and older brother in the war, the family faces significant hardships. A Syrian widow in Turkey often faces profound social and psychological challenges. Despite working long hours at a factory, Reyan's mother struggles to provide for her daughters.
Yet Reyan's determination shines through – she has quickly mastered Turkish and dreams of becoming a teacher. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, she can now pursue her education. Like many of the refugee girls we assist, Rayan is passionate about giving back to her community and helping others who face similar challenges.
