Shifting the Power Coalition Annual Partners Meeting, @ Holiday Inn, Suva Fiji

Coalition Voices: Annual Partners Meeting 2026

“Umi Na Umi” – We are what we are; who we are; where we are.

This week, the Shifting the Power Coalition is convening its Annual Partners Meeting in Suva to strengthen, renew and celebrate 10 years of our movement relationship.

Fifteen partner organisations from across eight Pacific Island countries are meeting to reaffirm what it means to be Pacific feminist humanitarians:

“We are here to build that strong partnership and we still have a lot of things to learn together as a coalition,” shared Flora Vano, ActionAid Vanuatu's Country Programme Manager.

“What we’re bringing into this week is the word ‘veiwekani’. It conveys the idea of relationship, kinship, connection, and togetherness. ‘Veiwekani’ is a powerful word for the Coalition because it emphasises that the group is united through a relationship and shared purpose,” said Ulamila Biudole on behalf of the Fiji country partners.

Grace Natoga from the Talitha Project, Tonga, used the Heilala flower as a metaphor for the contributions of partners to the Coalition and the wider movement:

“The heilala represents the beauty of our traditions, the strength of our people, and the importance of staying connected to our roots. Just as our heilala is cherished in Tonga, we bring to these coalitions our values, our voices, our experiences, and also our commitment to working together. We believe that, like the different petals of the flower, each of us brings something unique, and when we come together, we can grow stronger and create meaningful change.”

This year’s Annual Partners Meeting is being held at the Holiday Inn from 28 September – 1 October and is supported by the Pacific Women Lead at the Pacific-Community-SPC

School Awareness Program in Apifoou College.

Talitha extends our appreciation to our Guest Speaker for today, Mr Tito Kivalu, a long time Male Advocate and is currently working at the Ministry of Justice.
Mr Kivalu talked to Form 3, 4 and 5 students about Values and Violence.

Thank you teachers of Apifoou College for creating a space for young boys and young girls to learn, engage and be empowered.

This initiative was conducted under the Empower HER Project, funded by The Global Affairs Canada and implemented by Alinea International.

22 emerging young leaders of adolescent boys in 'Eua Island attended our two days camping program. Sessions like self-esteem equipped these teenage boys to value and respect themselves as it is critical to shape their mental health and guides their decision- making skills. They also understood what Gender - Based Violence is and identified types of violence in school, at home and in the community and how they can help resolve it - becoming Male Champions!

Talitha Project is proud to have partnered with the Technical Working Group on Trafficking in Persons, through the Empower Her Project in partnership with Alinea International and funded by the Government of Canada, to support this important awareness initiative.
Congratulations to all the young people who participated in the TikTok and Poster Competitions. Your creativity, courage, and voices are helping raise awareness about online scams, exploitation, and human trafficking.
Strong partnerships between government, civil society, schools, communities, and development partners are essential in protecting our children and youth. Together, we can empower young people with the knowledge and confidence to stay safe online and build a future free from exploitation.
