💥💢SCREEN TIME & SPEECH DELAY💢💥
My Thoughts On Screen Time
Children learn language through conversations, play, reading, social interaction, and everyday experiences. That’s where real communication happens.
But we also have to be realistc, it’s 2026. Technology isn’t going anywhere, and most children are going to have access to screens in one way or another.
That doesn’t mean screens are automatically bad.
The problem is when screens start replacing real-life interaction.
When a child spends hours watching a screen, that’s time they could be spending talking, listening, playing, asking questions, exploring, and connecting with the people around them. Those are the moments that help build language.
Is screen time the only reason a child may have a speech delay? No.
But I do think it can be part of the problem when it’s overused or used as a substitute for interaction.
My suggestion?
If you’re going to use screen time, choose slower-paced, language-friendly options.
And most importantly, keep it balanced.
Screens shouldn’t be an all-day activity. They should be a small part of your child’s day not the main event.
Children’s brains need time to process, think, play, and communicate.
Because at the end of the day, speech grows through interaction not observation. ❤️
