A day of learning, sharing and reflecting 💜

TWICT staff had the opportunity to attend the Assistive Technology Learning & Disability Inclusion Policy Workshop at TNCWC.

From learning about assistive technology and AI tools to discussing disability inclusion, accessibility and reasonable accommodations, the workshop gave us a better understanding of the importance of creating spaces where everyone can participate and feel included.

We left the workshop feeling more aware, inspired and encouraged to bring what we learned into our work and future programmes. 🌱💻♿️

A valuable experience filled with new knowledge, meaningful discussions and important reminders about the role we all play in promoting inclusion. 💜

TWICT staff had the opportunity to attend the Assistive Technology Learning & Disability Inclusion Policy Workshop held at TNCWC on 20 August 2026.

The workshop covered two important sessions on Assistive Technology and Disability Inclusion Policy, with discussions around accessibility, assistive tools, AI, reasonable accommodations, and creating more inclusive environments for people with disabilities.

More than just learning about new tools and policies, the workshop gave us a chance to reflect on the importance of understanding, inclusion and accessibility in the work we do. It reminded us that small changes in the way we plan, communicate and provide support can make a meaningful difference in someone’s ability to participate.

We came away feeling more aware of the barriers that people with disabilities can experience and more encouraged to think about how we can make our own programmes and activities more inclusive. It was a valuable learning experience, and we are grateful for the opportunity to learn, ask questions and share ideas with others. 💜

🇹🇴🤝🇺🇸 TWICT Welcomes the East Palo Alto Delegation

TWICT extends its sincere thanks to the Kolofoʻou District Council for including our organisation, based in Fasi moe Afi, in the official visit of the Mayor of East Palo Alto and his delegation as part of the developing East Palo Alto–Kolofoʻou Sister City partnership.

During the visit, TWICT presented and discussed our work in using technology to empower communities across Tonga, including digital literacy, cyber safety, STEM education, women and girls in ICT, and support for entrepreneurs and young people.

We were proud to showcase the TWICT Hub our own “little Silicon Valley” in Fasi moe Afi where technology, learning and community innovation come together.

As a gesture of appreciation, TWICT presented the Mayor with a token and a traditional Tongan gift to remember TWICT and Tonga upon their return home.

Mālō ʻaupito to the Kolofoʻou District Council and the East Palo Alto delegation for this meaningful community-to-community exchange. We look forward to future opportunities for collaboration, knowledge-sharing and digital innovation.

Today, TWICT proudly signed its Project Implementation Agreement under the Tonga Climate Change Fund’s first funding cycle, alongside 31 other successful beneficiaries.

Our project will advance digital climate-change initiatives, using technology and innovation to strengthen community awareness, preparedness and resilience.

Mālō ‘aupito to the Government of Tonga, MEIDECC, the TCCF team, donors and partners for investing in locally led climate action. TWICT is excited and ready to get to work!

Empowering the next generation of digital defenders! 🛡️💻

We are proud to present CyberShield Tonga, an intensive, full-day workshop designed to equip students with essential practical skills in cybersecurity, online risk awareness, and digital privacy protection.

4 Awesome Days of Cyber Learning!

TWICT’s - Mele Tavake shares an awesome four-day journey expanding her skills and knowledge through the Cybersecurity in the Pacific – Influence Defence Course.

From understanding digital threats and online safety, to hands-on OSINT, social media investigations, influence campaigns and investigative tools — plenty of practical learning to bring back and strengthen the work we do at TWICT.

Today we wrapped up our High School STEM Career Pathways Series at Tupou High School, Vaololoa, joined by students and teachers from Tupou High School, Tailulu College and ‘Apifo’ou College — close to 50 participants!

Our guest speakers brought STEM to life through real experiences: Osaiasi Lolohea, Maths & Physics Tutor at USP; the Deputy Director of Tonga MET, Mr Taniela Takeifanga, sharing how Science and Maths connect to Meteorology and weather forecasting; and the Founder of TWICT, sharing pathways in ICT and Engineering.

And once again, our students brought the REAL questions!

💻 “What skills do you need to work in ICT?”
🌦️ “How does a meteorologist make a weather forecast — and how do you make sure it is right?”
🧮 “How can we stop failing Maths?”
💪 “What encouraged you to choose the hard pathways in STEM and keep going?”

Through fun icebreakers, laughter and honest talanoa, students were able to ask questions they genuinely wanted answered and hear about the challenges, failures, opportunities and realities behind STEM careers.

This is what the American Corner and TWICT partnership is about — creating spaces that help our young people see the connection between what they learn today and where it can take them tomorrow. 🇹🇴🇺🇸
