AJTC U14 Cairo 2026 comes to an end 🇪🇬🎾

The AJTC U14 2026 concluded after a week of exciting competition bringing together Africa’s best young talents in Cairo, Egypt. Morocco claimed the boys’ title 🏆after defeating Egypt 3-0 in the final, while Egypt finished first in the girls’ event with four victories overall. 🏆

𝗖ô𝘁𝗲 𝗱'𝗜𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻/ 𝗔𝗧𝗣 𝟳𝟱 𝘂𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹é 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝗻𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻

Le Belge Gauthier Onclin a marqué de son empreinte la 2026 du Côte d’Ivoire Open ATP Challenger 75 en remportant, ce dimanche 3 mai, la grande finale face à l’Américain Michael Mmoh (6-3, 6-4), sur le court central Kaydan du Central tennis club du Sofitel Hôtel Ivoire.
Dominateur dès l’entame, le Belge impose un rythme élevé, solide au service et tranchant dans les échanges. Il s’adjuge logiquement le premier set 6-3, avant de confirmer dans la deuxième manche où il prend rapidement le large (5-1). Mais une pluie vient interrompre la rencontre et relance totalement le suspense.
À la reprise, Michael Mmoh hausse son niveau et profite d’un léger passage à vide pour revenir dans le match, enchaînant trois jeux consécutifs et recollant à 5-4. Le public assiste alors à une finale totalement relancée. Sous pression, Gauthier Onclin garde son sang-froid. Plus solide dans les moments clés, il reprend le contrôle, casse la dynamique adverse et conclut finalement le second set 6-4 pour s’offrir le titre.
Ce sacre vient couronner une semaine exceptionnelle pour le Belge, déjà vainqueur de l’ATP 50 disputé une semaine plus tôt sur les mêmes installations. Il réalise ainsi un doublé historique à Abidjan.
La veille, le public a également assisté à une finale de double spectaculaire : la paire Robert Strombachs et Constantin Bittoun Kouzmine s’est imposée (6-4, 3-6, 9-11) face aux Britanniques Tom Hands et Hamish Stewart au terme d’un super tie-break irrespirable.
Avec ce doublé ATP 50 + ATP Challenger 75, Gauthier Onclin quitte Abidjan en patron avec une performance qui restera comme l’un des moments forts de cette édition.

Egypt hosts the 15th edition of the African Junior Team Championship (AJTC) for 14 and under boys and girls, taking place from 5 to 9 May 2026.

This championship also serves as the African Qualifying event for the ITF World Junior Tennis Competition, where two teams in the boys’ event and two teams in the girls’ event will earn their place at the World Finals 2026.

Seven nations are competing in the boys’ event: Morocco 🇲🇦 South Africa 🇿🇦 Cameroon 🇨🇲 Tunisia 🇹🇳 Egypt 🇪🇬 Algeria 🇩🇿 and Kenya 🇰🇪.
In the girls’ event, six nations are represented: Egypt 🇪🇬 Tunisia 🇹🇳 Morocco 🇲🇦 South Africa 🇿🇦 Kenya 🇰🇪 and Botswana 🇧🇼.

The captains’ meeting was held today, during which the official draw took place, marking the start of the competition.

🇳🇬 x 🇿🇦 On the Podium in J500 Cairo ✨

Ogunsakin Peter 🇳🇬 and Connor Doig 🇿🇦 made a strong run to the J500 Doubles final in Cairo, showing great level and fighting spirit throughout the week.

They finished runners-up after a tough match against Jakub Kusy 🇨🇿 and Vincent Reisach 🇩🇪 (7-6(2), 6-3).
