American Corner Sousse The American Corner Sousse is a cultural and information center open to the Tunisian public. Funded by the U.S. culture and values.

The American Corner in Sousse is a cultural and information center that provide free and open access for the greater Sousse community to learn more about the United States, develop skills, and access a wide range of resources. Department of State and hosted at Amideast, the American Corner offers a welcoming environment in which visitors can explore and share ideas, access information, and participate in activities that develop professional skills or provide educational opportunities. American Spaces are also places to meet and engage American citizens in person or virtually to learn more about U.S.

🎨For one year, Chahd volunteered as the leader of our Painting Club, turning it into a fun, engaging, and welcoming learning environment where patrons could explore their creativity, develop their artistic skills, and connect through art.

🧶This summer, the American Corner Sousse hosted Hook and Talk, a four-session series combining crochet, English practice, creativity, and community connection.
The workshops were led by Ferdaws Jemmezi, a YES alumna who recently returned to Tunisia. During her exchange experience in the United States, Ferdaws developed her passion and skills in crochet. Back home, she chose to share what she learned with others in her community.
Through hands-on activities and English conversations, participants learned new crochet techniques, practiced giving and following instructions, and created handmade projects together.
✨ Ferdaws’ journey is a wonderful example of how exchange experiences can continue to create impact long after participants return home, as skills and inspiration are shared with others.

📚From September 5 to 12, the American Corner Sousse hosted a Teacher Training Workshop Series on “Accessibility in the Classroom”.
The four sessions explored neurodiversity, ADHD and autism, executive functioning, learning differences, and building effective support systems between teachers, learners, and parents.
The series gave educators an opportunity to refresh their knowledge, gain practical strategies, and start the new academic year better prepared to support different learners and create more accessible classrooms.
🙌 We would like to thank all the educators who took part in the series for their active participation and thoughtful discussions throughout the sessions. A special thank you to Mrs. Svenja for sharing her expertise and providing practical insights to help educators better understand and respond to different learning needs.
