Last Thursday on 12 of February 2026, Frontline Timor-Leste received funding from the Government of Japan to conduct Phase 2 of a Japanese NGO project aimed at improving the quality of Maternal Health services in Bobonaro Municipality. The funding will strengthen health personnel capacity and enhance health facility infrastructure.
The agreement was signed by H.E. Yamamoto Yasushi, Ambassador of Japan to Timor-Leste, and Mr. Yohei Kawaguchi, Country Representative of Frontline Timor-Leste, at the Embassy of Japan in Dili.
The ceremony was attended by Her Excellency the Minister of Health, the Country Representative of UNFPA, the President of Timor-Leste Medical Association, the Director of Municipal Health Services Bobonaro, representatives from President of the Municipal Authority Bobonaro, the Cabinet for Policy, Planning, Cooperation and Development of Health, representatives from National Maternal and Child Health, the National Institute of Public Health of Timor-Leste, NGO representatives, and national directors.
During the ceremony, Mr. Yohei Kawaguchi presented the achievements of Phase 1 and outlined the activity plan for Phase 2. Under Phase 2, Frontline Timor-Leste will implement activities including: Obstetrics and gynecology’s ultrasound (echography) training for health professionals, Mothers’ Classes and community awareness activities, Conducting a national guideline on Mothers’ Classes, Installation of solar panels in health facilities.
With support from the People of Japan, Frontline aims to strengthen Maternal and Child Health, contributing to safer, healthier environments where mothers can access high-quality maternal and child healthcare services.

2026年2月12日、地球のステージは、ボボナロ県における母子保健サービスの質の向上を目的としたプロジェクト(第2期)を実施するため、日本政府より資金供与を受けました。本事業は、保健医療従事者の能力強化および保健医療施設のインフラ改善を目的としています。
在東ティモール日本国大使館において、山本駐東ティモール日本国大使と、地球のステージの現地代表・川口で署名が交わされました。
署名式には、東ティモール保健大臣、UNFPA(国連人口基金)、東ティモール医師会、ボボナロ県保健局、ボボナロ県行政当局、保健省政策・計画・協力・開発局、母子保健課、東ティモール国立公衆衛生研究所等の関係者が参加しました。
式典では、現地代表の川口より第1期(2025年度事業)の成果を報告するとともに、第2期(2026年度事業)の活動計画を説明しました。プロジェクトの第2期では、以下の活動を実施する予定です。
保健医療従事者への産婦人科エコー検査研修
母親学級および地域啓発活動の実施
母親学級のガイドラインの策定
保健医療施設への太陽光パネルの設置
日本政府の援助を受けて、地球のステージは東ティモールの方々とともに母子保健の向上に取り組み、お母さんたちが安心して質の高い母子保健サービスを受けられる、より安全で健やかな環境づくりを目指します。
