📍Ainaro, 01 - 03 June 2026, Plan International Timor-Leste's Management Team conducted a field monitoring visit to the communities of Soru Kraik (Bolmeta and Riamori), Maulu, and Mausiga under the theme "Hearing Community Voices, Guiding Our Next Steps." 💙🌱🤝
During the three-day visit, the management team engaged directly with community members, local leaders, government representatives, volunteers, and partners to listen, learn, and better understand the realities, achievements, and challenges faced by communities. The visit also provided an opportunity to observe the impact of Plan International Timor-Leste's integrated interventions in climate-smart agriculture, Village Savings and Loans (VSLA), WASH, education, Youth Economic Empowerment (YEE), and girls' leadership initiatives.
✨ More than 2,000 women, men, girls, boys, and persons with disabilities have directly benefited from these interventions, demonstrating the power of community-led development and strong partnerships.
🗣️ Reflecting on the importance of community engagement, Plan International Timor-Leste Country Director, Fátima Estrela Soares, shared "Leaders must stay grounded in the real lives of the communities we serve. By being present on the ground, we send a clear message: you are not alone. As a management team, we are here to listen, connect, and work together because nothing is more powerful than your voice in shaping the future. Stand up, speak out, and lead your own change. 📍Dili, 5 June 2026, Plan International Timor-Leste convened the 2026 Annual Partnership Reflection Workshop under the theme “They Said – We Did – What’s Next” at Tower Fatuhada. 💙🤝

The workshop brought together more than 70 participants representing Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Youth-Led Organizations and Groups (YLOs), and Plan International Timor-Leste staff to reflect on partnership experiences, celebrate achievements, discuss challenges, and identify practical actions to further strengthen collaboration in the future. 🌱✨

In her opening remarks, Ms. Fátima Estrela Soares, Country Director of Plan International Timor-Leste, expressed her appreciation to all partners for their dedication and contributions to programmes, projects, and advocacy efforts across Timor-Leste.

🗣️ “I would like to express my appreciation to all our partners, NGOs, CBOs, and YLOs, for your dedication and contributions to our programmes, projects, and advocacy efforts. Today’s partnership reflection meeting is not only about the formal agreements we hold, but more importantly about the trust and confidence that drive us to continue creating positive change for communities in Timor-Leste.

Partnership is a powerful force that brings together resources and experience to create strong and sustainable impact. It is also part of our journey towards achieving 70% of our work through partnerships.” 💙🤝

Through interactive discussions, lessons learned sharing sessions, peer-to-peer exchanges, and joint action planning, participants reviewed key findings from the 2025 Partnership Survey and reflected on how partner feedback and recommendations can contribute to improving partnership practices. The workshop also served as an important platform to strengthen mutual accountability, promote shared ownership, and reaffirm Plan International Timor-Leste’s commitment to strengthening local partnerships and community-led development. 📊🤝

🤝 Plan International Timor-Leste, through its Youth Economic Empowerment (YEE) Programme, held a coordination meeting with four Community-Based Organizations (CBOs): HAHIF (Hamutuk Agora Hadia ba Futuru) in Ainaro Vila and Hatudo, HLDK (Hamutuk Luta ba Dezenvolvimentu Komunidade) in Maubisse and Hatubuilico, KFT (Klibur Foin Sa’e Transformador) in Turiscai, and ACB (Asaun ba Komunidade iha Base) in Aileu.

📝 The meeting provided an opportunity for partners to share progress on their activities and organizational missions, including cooperative initiatives, agricultural activities, and other community-led development efforts. Participants also discussed action plans to guide future implementation and strengthen the sustainability of their initiatives.

🌱 Bringing together leaders and key representatives from the four organizations, the meeting reinforced collaboration, accountability, and a shared commitment to promoting economic empowerment and sustainable community development.

📍Same, 1 June 2026 | Plan International Timor-Leste, together with the Association of Former Youth Parliament Members, organized a seminar under the theme “Children’s Voices Matter in Building a Just and Inclusive Future” with financial support from the European Union. The seminar aimed to increase understanding of children's rights, encourage community participation in child protection, promote dialogue on issues affecting children, and strengthen collaboration among government institutions, organizations, schools, and communities. 🤝📚

During his remarks, Mr. Seth Van Doorn, Representative of the European Union in Timor-Leste, stated that “Children have the right to receive care from their parents, live in a safe home, access quality health services and education, and be protected from all forms of violence and harm.”

Similarly, Mr. Leopoldino da Costa Marçal, Principal of EBC Babulo, reaffirmed that “The future of the nation lies in the hands of the younger generation,” and encouraged students to study hard, value their future, respect their parents and teachers, and prepare themselves to contribute to the development of Timor-Leste. 🌟

The activity engaged more than 120 participants, including female and male students, as well as teachers from six schools across Manufahi Municipality. The seminar also featured interventions from speakers representing the Municipal Authority of Manufahi, the Municipal Education Office, and the Office of the Provedor for Human Rights and Justice (PDHJ), who emphasized the importance of children's rights and child protection. 📊🎤

On the same day, the National Children's Day celebration continued at the Babulo Village Hall, bringing together more than 100 participants, including children and parents. Activities included drawing competitions, sack races, traditional games, and other recreational activities aimed at promoting children's rights while celebrating this important occasion. 🎨🏃‍♀️🎉

🎈 The celebration featured a variety of educational and recreational activities, including free drawing, local story writing, musical chairs, apple bobbing, marbles and knucklebones games, and memory games. These activities helped children learn, develop their creativity, and strengthen their self-confidence through fun and inclusive learning experiences. 🎨📚🎭

🗓️ On 28–29 May 2026, Plan International Timor-Leste and the Municipal Civil Protection Authority (APC) 🤝 worked together to support 101 households affected by the natural hazard 🌧️ that occurred on 12 May 2026 in the Administrative Posts of Same, Alas, and Fatuberliu.

📦💙 Through a coordinated emergency response, affected households received food supplies, School in a Box kits 📚, and Dignity Kits 🧴 to help meet their immediate needs and support their recovery.

🌱✨ By working together, we continue to stand with communities in times of crisis and support their journey toward recovery, resilience, and hope.
