Last week, HAMNASA team received Inclusive Disability Training provided by our partner, Ra'es Hadomi Timor Oan (RHTO).

The training strengthened staff knowledge and understanding of disability inclusion through sessions covering: Definition and Types of Disability, Appropriate Disability Terminology, Barriers to Inclusion, Effective Ways of Interacting with People with Disabilities, Causes of Disability, Accessibility and Inclusive Environments, Equality and Non-Discrimination.

This learning opportunity enhanced our commitment to promoting equality, dignity, and meaningful participation for all people, including people with disabilities. By increasing awareness and practical skills, HAMNASA continues to work toward creating more inclusive programs, services, and workplaces that leave no one behind.

Recently, HAMNASA together with The Asia Foundation through the Nabilan Program, held the opening of the Father of Change activity in Lihu Village, Railako Administrative Post, Ermera Municipality.
Thirteen families (wives and husbands) will participate in 17 sessions over the next three months. During these sessions, families will learn about positive nonviolent parenting, shared decision-making, family planning, and how to support partners during pregnancy and childbirth.

These sessions are also to encourage fathers to become more actively involved in the early stages of pregnancy and to actively participate in the healthy growth and development of their children. This will bring positive benefits to them as fathers, to their partners and their children and help build stronger, healthier families and non violence.

Dili, 26 March 2026 — Hamutuk Nasaun Saudável (HAMNASA) and the Australian Government, officially launched a Tuberculosis (TB) program in Dili. The ceremony also marked the public launch of HAMNASA’s Biannual Report 2024–2025, highlighting key achievements, lessons learned, and organizational resilience following significant funding challenges in 2025.

The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including DFAT Deputy Head of Mission Mr. Edward Wilkinson; the National Director of Disease Prevention and Control, Ministry of Health, dr. Heitor da Costa Pereira; the Director General of INSP-TL, dr. Gregorio Rangel; the representative of The Asia Foundation Timor-Leste, Ms. Xylia Ingham; as well as other key figures from the Ministry of Health, civil society organizations (CSOs), and development partners.
This initiative builds on HAMNASA’s strong collaboration with the Ministry of Health and continued support to the National TB Program, complementing existing interventions funded by the Global Fund. With a total investment of US$990,000 (AUD 1.5 million) over two and a half years, the project will be implemented in Dili municipality, aiming to improve the quality, equity, and reach of TB services for the general population and vulnerable groups.

During the ceremony, the National Director of Disease Prevention and Control, Ministry of Health, dr. Heitor da Costa Pereira welcomed the collaboration and emphasized the importance of partnerships in strengthening the national response to tuberculosis:
“TB is a major concern in Timor-Leste, the Ministry of Health cannot work alone, it needs the participation and collaboration of development partners and implementing partners in the process of TB elimination.”

Together, through partnership and innovation, we are strengthening the national response to TB and working toward a healthier Timor-Leste.

Iha tinan 2025, ema na’in 8,217 hetan triajen liuhosi esforsu karreta móvel iha área kobertura Dili laran nian.

On World TB Day, Hamutuk Nasaun Saudável (HAMNASA) reaffirms its commitment to strengthening tuberculosis (TB) prevention and response in Timor-Leste.

Through our community-based interventions, we are working to improve early case detection, support treatment adherence, and ensure that TB services are accessible, inclusive, and people-centered. In 2025, 8,217 people were screened through mobile van efforts in the Dili coverage area.

Ending TB requires collective action. Together with communities, health workers, and partners, HAMNASA continues to promote awareness, reduce stigma, and build a healthier, TB-free Timor-Leste.
