Medical Outreach Activity

On June 11–14, 2026, SABEH healthcare professional volunteers conducted a medical outreach activity in Suco Ossoala, in the villages of Lolinunu and Caidenolale.

The medical outreach activities carried out included: general medical consultations, health promotion, disease prevention, health education, home visits, and medical assistance for people living with disabilities.

Respiratory infection stands out as a very high public health problem, followed immediately by other diseases such as skin diseases, high blood pressure (hypertension), acute gastritis, and urinary tract infections.

Total number of patient who attended the clinical consultation were about 103.

This medical consultation activity for communities in these extremely remote areas received financial support from the Civil Society Support Office.

Community Palliative Care- Listening to the Human Side.

Geographical conditions, access to good roads, and basic health services that cannot yet reach everyone leave many severely ill people without access to good and dignified treatment. Seeing this reality, SABEH is working together with the Ministry of Health through the mobilization of healthcare professional volunteers to bring health services to sick people who cannot make it to health facilities due to chronic illness conditions and other problems.

In addition to providing general healthcare treatment, promotion, prevention, and Health Education, the team also conducts home visits to severely ill patients as part of Community Palliative Care.

This activity received support from the Civil Society Support Office (GASC).

Holistic medical care is an approach to healing that addresses the whole person- body, mind, spirit, and community—rather than just treating an isolated disease or specific symptoms.
In standard modern medicine, the focus is often on the pathology (e.g., managing blood sugar or prescribing an antibiotic). In holistic care, the condition is viewed as part of a larger ecosystem. The goal is to understand how a patient’s lifestyle, emotional state, cultural background, and social environment interact to affect their overall health.

Core Principles of Holistic Medicine
To understand how holistic care works in practice, it helps to look at its foundational pillars:
1. The Patient-Physician Partnership:The patient is not a passive recipient of care but an active partner. Decisions are made collaboratively, respecting the patient's values, goals, and daily reality.
2. Searching for the Root Cause:Instead of simply suppressing symptoms, a holistic practitioner asks “why”the symptom is appearing. For example, chronic headaches aren't just treated with analgesics; the provider explores sleep patterns, stress levels, dietary triggers, and ergonomics.

3. Prevention and Wellness First:Health is not merely the absence of disease; it is the optimal functioning of the individual. Prevention, lifestyle modification, and health education are prioritized.

4. Relationship-Centered Care:Healing takes place within the context of meaningful relationships. A strong therapeutic bond between the care team and the patient is considered a powerful clinical tool.

Care involves continuous, relationship-based counseling alongside evidence-based screenings and treatments.

2. Community Health & Outreach
In resource-limited or remote settings, medicine “must”be holistic to be effective. Treating a patient's malnutrition or infectious disease requires looking beyond the clinic walls to address local water safety, agricultural stability, community trust, and the logistics of navigating a fragmented health system.

3. Palliative and End-of-Life Care
