The National Institute for Workforce Development (INDMO) conducted an evaluation and monitoring visit to the HIAM Health Training Centre.

This visit was part of ongoing efforts to ensure the quality and standards of the training that HIAM Health provides to communities. During the evaluation process, the INDMO team directly observed the training methodology, practical and theoretical sessions, the capacity of trainers, and the overall management system of the training centre.

The visit was important as it provided HIAM Health with the opportunity to receive professional feedback and technical guidance to further improve the training centre, identifying both strong areas and those that require strengthening. The results of this monitoring will contribute to HIAM Health’s continued delivery of high-quality training services, expanded opportunities for communities, and strengthened capacity in nutritious agriculture across Timor-Leste.

During the monitoring and evaluation process, the INDMO team also directly observed the practical activities carried out at the HIAM Health Training Centre. These practical sessions are an essential component of HIAM Health’s training model, as they allow participants to learn through hands-on practice and apply theoretical knowledge in real situations.

INDMO, the National Institute for Workforce Development, is a government institution responsible for:
• the development of the national workforce,
• regulation and standardization of the TVET system (Technical and Vocational Education and Training),
• accreditation of training centres,
• evaluation and monitoring of training quality,
• and assessment of trainer competencies in the professional training sector.

Cooking Demonstration

As part of the ongoing collaboration with Plan International, HIAM Health conducted a Nutrition Cooking Demonstration under the Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture (NSA) training program. This activity aimed to strengthen participants’ practical skills in preparing nutritious, balanced, and affordable meals using locally available ingredients.

During the demonstration, participants learned hands-on techniques to transform local agricultural products into healthy dishes while applying food hygiene practices, dietary diversity, and climate-smart cooking methods. The session also highlighted how nutrition-sensitive agriculture can directly contribute to better household nutrition.

HIAM Health is proud to support Plan International in empowering communities, promoting healthy eating, and improving nutrition practices across Timor-Leste. Together, we are building stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities.
