Last June, our Hub Leader and I-REEF Project Lead conducted a series of coordination meetings in Laga in preparation for the upcoming I-REEF research activities. The research will focus on assessing coral reef ecosystems and understanding the socio-economic dependence of coastal communities on marine resources.

The engagement began with the presentation of the activity plan to the Posto Administrativo de Laga and Village Leaders, followed by coordination meetings with the Director of Municipal Agriculture Services and the Municipal Coordinator for Fisheries and Aquaculture.

These coordination meetings are an essential step in ensuring that local authorities and key stakeholders are well informed, aligned, and actively engaged before field activities begin. Through strong collaboration and transparent communication, we aim to support effective research implementation and contribute to evidence-based marine conservation in Timor-Leste.

Over the past two weeks during June, KOICA Alumni Association of Timor-Leste, SOA Timor-Leste and Timor-Leste Matak no Azul proudly visited ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘ ๐ฌ๐œ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐š๐œ๐ซ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ƒ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข, ๐’๐ฎ๐š๐ข, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐€๐ญ๐š๐ฎ๐ซ๐จ ๐ˆ๐ฌ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐, reaching more than ๐Ÿ•๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ through engaging and interactive learning sessions.

The impact was remarkable, with pre- and post-assessment results showing an average ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ% increase in students' knowledge, demonstrating the effectiveness of ocean education in empowering young people to protect our marine environment.

Together, we are nurturing a generation that understands the value of healthy oceans and is committed to safeguarding Timor-Leste's rich marine heritage.
