Funded by the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP), this three-year project supports 10 communities by promoting positive, inclusive, and child-friendly parenting practices.

As part of this effort, KIAR/Parenting Champions are being trained to strengthen their knowledge, facilitation skills, and confidence to deliver practical parenting sessions. The training covers 11 key parenting topics, helping Parenting Champions engage and empower families to create safe, caring, supportive, and inclusive environments for all children, including children with disabilities. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦💙

Together, we are helping families build stronger foundations for children to learn, grow, participate, and thrive. 🌱

ChildFund Timor-Leste, through the Swipe Safe Project funded by the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP), joined a Comparative Learning Workshop on Indonesia’s Child Protection System alongside the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MSSI) and Associação Juventude Hakbiit Justisa Timor-Leste (AJHJ-TL).

The workshop brought together partners from Timor-Leste and Indonesia, including ChildFund International in Indonesia, Yayasan CITAMADANI, and representatives of Indonesian child protection institutions such as the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD), Women and Child Protection (PPA), and the Office for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (DP3A).

The comparative learning focused on mapping Indonesia’s child protection system, examining the roles and responsibilities of key institutions, and identifying similarities and differences between the systems in Indonesia and Timor-Leste.

Participants also exchanged experiences and discussed how lessons from Indonesia could inform ongoing efforts to strengthen child protection mechanisms and referral pathways in Timor-Leste.

The workshop forms part of the Swipe Safe Project’s broader efforts to strengthen collaboration and learning among child protection actors and support safer environments for children, both online and offline.

🤝 Together with ChildFund International in Indonesia, the Association of CITAMADANI, and Indonesian child protection institutions, including the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD), Women and Child Protection (PPA), and the Office for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (DP3A), the team exchanged experiences, explored good practices, and learned from referral mechanisms that support children at risk.

🏫 The team also visited Kupang 8 Public Junior High School (SMPN 8 and Kupang 1 Public Senior High School (SMA Negeri 1) to observe how students access and use the Swipe Safe App in their schools.

📰💻 Students now have a new space to create, share and connect!

ChildFund Timor-Leste joined the launch of the Digital Wall Newspaper at General Secondary School 12 de Novembro, in partnership with the Secretary of State for Social Communication (SeComS) and the Ministry of Education, through the Swipe Safe: Safer Internet Project.

The platform gives students an opportunity to showcase their creativity, strengthen their writing skills, and share stories about learning, school life, and extracurricular activities with their peers and teachers.

🌐 Through Swipe Safe, funded by the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP), we continue working with partners to empower children and young people to participate confidently, creatively, and safely in the digital world.
