About PPCR
The Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR) is a multidonor
initiative designed to pilot and integrate climate-resilient
development in some of the most vulnerable developing
countries. The PPCR is a targeted program under the Strategic
Climate Fund, which is one of two funds within the framework
of the Climate Investment Funds. The projects implemented under the PPCR are country-le
d,
build on national strategies, and are aligned with other donorfunded
activities supporting climate-resilient development. To
date, PPCR funds have been channeled through the multilateral
development banks and, for Tajikistan, through the Asian
Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development, and the World Bank. More information on the

PPCR in Tajikistan
Tajikistan is highly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate
change, mainly because of its high exposure to climate-induced
extreme events, its dependence on natural resources such as
water, and its low capacity to adapt. For these reasons, Tajikistan
was selected participate in the Pilot Program for Climate
Resilience (PPCR). PPCR activities in Tajikistan are coordinated by the deputy
prime minister, working with a focal point in the Ecology and
Emergency Situations Department of the Executive Office of
the President. Secretariat
The PPCR secretariat is responsible for overall coordination
of PPCR activities and communications to stakeholders,
dissemination of PPCR materials at national and international
events, capacity building of government and non government
agencies, and supporting the monitoring and evaluation of PPCR
outputs.
