There is a massive difference between decoding a word and truly understanding it. Our P6/2 students have been grinding on phonics and blending all semester, building the technical foundation for literacy. But decoding is only half the battle. 📖✨

We’ve all seen it: a student can perfectly blend sounds to say a word, yet it remains abstract; a sound without a soul. That’s exactly why we’re evolving our approach. By transitioning from isolated drills to putting those words into the context of short stories, we are doing more than just teaching reading; we are teaching meaning. 🧠💡

Next lesson, we’re diving straight into storytelling and comprehension. This is where the magic happens. When words live inside a narrative, they stop being static, difficult sounds and start becoming a part of the student's own vocabulary. We aren’t just preparing them to read; we’re preparing them to think, connect, and comprehend. Proud of the P6/2 progress as they unlock the power of language! 🚀🖋️

🌈At Coconut Club, our students had fun playing a challenging tower-building game! Each student drew a card from the deck and carefully looked at the shape or action shown on their card. They then used a steady hand to place the matching piece onto the shifting tower.🌟
This fun activity helped the students practise their focus, patience, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving skills while having lots of fun together!

ในกิจกรรมโคโคนัทคลับนักเรียนของเราได้สนุกกับเกมสร้างหอคอยที่ท้าทาย! นักเรียนแต่ละคนจะหยิบการ์ดจากกองไพ่ แล้วสังเกตรูปร่างหรือท่าทางที่แสดงอยู่บนการ์ด จากนั้นใช้มืออย่างมั่นคงและระมัดระวังในการวางชิ้นส่วนที่ตรงกับการ์ดลงบนหอคอยที่กำลังเคลื่อนไหว
กิจกรรมสนุก ๆ นี้ช่วยให้นักเรียนได้ฝึก สมาธิ ความอดทน การประสานงานระหว่างมือกับสายตา และทักษะการแก้ปัญหา พร้อมทั้งได้เรียนรู้และสนุกไปด้วยกัน! 😊

Here are some snapshots from our recent one-on-one reading assessments with our Primary 5 and 6 students. 💡📚✨

Regular individual reading assessments are vital for EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners as they allow us to pinpoint specific gaps in phonics and sight word recognition that might otherwise go unnoticed in a group setting. By working one-on-one, we can tailor our support to each student's pace, ensuring they build a solid foundation before moving on. 🎯 ✅ For our more advanced readers, these sessions provide the perfect space to challenge their critical thinking through short comprehension tasks, helping them engage more deeply with the texts they encounter. 📖✨

Keeping these assessments and our broader educational programmes running requires ongoing support, as we aim to give every child the individual attention they deserve. Our Primary 1 class has been busy expanding their vocabulary, connecting new words to the specific letter sounds we’re exploring in lessons. Building a strong foundation in phonics and word recognition is essential for EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners, as it bridges the gap between hearing sounds and understanding meaning. This confidence in early literacy unlocks their ability to read and express themselves clearly in English.

We’ve also had a fascinating time comparing animals, looking at the differences between crocodiles and alligators 🐊, distinguishing tortoises from turtles 🐢, and discovering what makes an iguana so unique. Bringing these real-world comparisons into the classroom allows students to see how different subjects link together. An integrated approach helps learners grasp complex concepts more naturally by placing them in context rather than treating them as isolated facts. 🧠 👀❤️✨

✨ Little Artists at Coconut Club - masked Monday!!
Let’s check out these fun animal masks made by our Coconut Club students! 🎨✨
In this activity, the students got super creative colouring and cutting out their favourite animal masks. We had cute bunnies, clever foxes, sweet cats, pretty butterflies, and even fierce tigers! Everyone had a blast adding their own colours and ideas, creating the most adorable artwork.
Learning through art is not only great for developing various skills, but it also boosts students' confidence and brings out the biggest smiles! ❤️🐯🦊🐰😸🦋

กิจกรรมรอบนี้เด็กๆ ได้ใช้ความคิดสร้างสรรค์ระบายสี ตัดกระดาษหน้ากากสัตว์ มีทั้งน้องกระต่าย จิ้งจอก แมว ผีเสื้อ และเสืออีกด้วย! แต้มสี เติมไอเดียกันสนุกสนานจนได้ผลงานที่น่ารัก✨

Our Primary 4 students enjoyed an exciting Whisper Game while reviewing vocabulary about school subjects. By listening carefully and passing the correct word along to their teammates, students strengthened their listening, speaking and teamwork skills in a fun and engaging way.

Learning through games helps students build confidence, improve their communication skills, and make English learning more enjoyable every day! 💙✨

🎉 นักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 4 ของเรา เรียนรู้เรื่องวิชาเรียน (School Subjects) ผ่านเกมกระซิบบอกคำ! 📚🗣️

นักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 4 ได้ร่วมสนุกกับกิจกรรมเกมกระซิบบอกคำ (Whisper Game) เพื่อทบทวนคำศัพท์เกี่ยวกับวิชาเรียน โดยนักเรียนได้ฝึกการฟังอย่างตั้งใจ ส่งต่อคำศัพท์ให้เพื่อนในทีม และช่วยกันตอบคำศัพท์ให้ถูกต้อง
