The Royal Thai Embassy in Paris is pleased to invite you to the exhibition “Chud Thai: The Knowledge, Craftsmanship and Practices of the Thai National Costume”, organised by the Ministry of Culture of Thailand, which will take place on 10–11 October 2026 at Le Meurice Hotel in Paris. The exhibition marks an important cultural milestone, reflecting Thailand’s vision of bringing knowledge of the Thai national costume to the global stage.
The programme will feature talks by Assistant Professor Dr Anucha Thirakanont, Director of the Institute for the Promotion of Thai Arts and Crafts, and Ms Sarttarat Muddin, Chief Curator at the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles. The exhibition will showcase all eight styles of Chud Thai Phra Ratchaniyom (Thai National Costume), designed and tailored by Tirapan and Pa Couture, alongside demonstrations of traditional Thai dressing techniques. In addition, five cultural craft demonstrations associated with Chud Thai Phra Ratchaniyom (Thai National Costume) will be presented: gold brocade weaving, gold-thread net weaving, silk embroidery using a traditional frame, traditional Thai jewellery making, and decorative floral garland making. These activities will be presented as examples of contemporary design that reflect the artistic structures and craftsmanship of Thai cultural heritage. Rather than being merely historical artefacts, these traditions represent a living heritage that continues to evolve and inspire new creative expressions.
