🌧️ Preparing for Phuket’s Higher-Risk Flood Period: September & October 🌧️

As Phuket moves into September and October, the risk of heavy rainfall and flooding can increase — and preparation before the water rises can make a real difference.

At Living Waters Phuket, we believe emergency response starts before an emergency happens.

For rescuers, volunteers and affected families, some of the most important supplies are also the simplest:

💧 Drinking Water
🍚 Rice
🥫 Canned Food
🛢️ Cooking Oil

These basic necessities can help families maintain access to food and clean drinking water when roads are flooded, shops are closed, or normal supplies are disrupted.

Preparing supplies in advance also means that when flooding occurs, support can reach communities faster.

We’re encouraging everyone to think ahead — check your household supplies, help vulnerable neighbours, and consider supporting local emergency response efforts.

Water. Rice. Canned food. Cooking oil.

It is a fair question. When people hear about a foundation or community organisation, they naturally want to know where the work is happening, who is being supported, and what projects are currently underway.

One of the things we're most proud of at Living Waters Phuket is seeing friendships that were formed during the COVID years continue to make a difference today.

When Phuket was struggling, people from around the world stepped forward to help. Many of those incredible supporters have never stopped.

Each month, they continue to send much-needed supplies for the children cared for by Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation, helping ensure they have access to essential items and support.

Our small part is simply to help these donations through customs, receive them safely here in Phuket, and make sure they reach Tina and her amazing team, who do such an incredible job caring for the children.

This week we received another wonderful delivery, and we're grateful to everyone who continues to support this ongoing effort. Every box represents kindness, generosity and a reminder that even years after COVID, people still care.

Together, we're continuing to make a difference, one delivery at a time. ❤️

🤝 Leadership isn't always about being in front. Sometimes it's about knowing when to stand beside others.

During COVID, devastating floods and other crises across Thailand, Living Waters Phuket stepped forward to help coordinate emergency relief, support vulnerable communities and bring people together when they needed it most.

Emergency response is part of who we are.

But as Thailand has moved into a more stable period, we've deliberately taken a different approach.

Rather than trying to do everything ourselves, we've chosen to support incredible organisations that are already creating lasting change in their communities.

From the outstanding work that Tina Hall and the team at Phuket Has Been Good To Us continue to do for children through education, to the tireless efforts of Bangkok Community Help supporting vulnerable communities in Bangkok, we believe the best outcomes come when charities work together, not in competition.

That doesn't mean Living Waters Phuket has stopped helping.

Far from it.

Much of what we do today happens quietly behind the scenes—connecting people, supporting projects, sharing experience, and preparing to step forward again whenever our community needs us most.

Because not every act of kindness needs to be seen.

Sometimes, the greatest impact comes from helping others succeed.

💙 COMMUNITY UPDATE 💙

Today, Shaun was able to hand over an oxygen concentrator to a local Phuket mayor, who will ensure it reaches a resident recently discharged from hospital and still requiring oxygen support at home during their recovery.

We would like to thank everyone who has shared our previous post, reached out, and offered support. Your kindness is already making a real difference in our community. 🙏

Unfortunately, there is still an urgent need for a second home oxygen concentrator for another local resident.

If you have a working oxygen concentrator that is no longer being used, or if you would like to donate towards the purchase of one, please send us a message.

Together, we can help local Phuket residents recover safely at home, ease the burden on their families, and provide support when it is needed most.

💙 URGENT COMMUNITY SUPPORT REQUEST 💙

A local Phuket mayor recently reached out to us seeking assistance for residents who are being discharged from hospital but still require oxygen support at home.

Today we have provided one oxygen concentrator to help a local resident. However, there is an immediate need for a second unit.

The model being requested is similar to the one pictured below – a home oxygen concentrator used to assist people with respiratory conditions and recovery after hospitalization.

If you have a working oxygen concentrator that is no longer being used, or if you would like to donate funds towards the purchase of one, please send us a message.

Together, we can help local Phuket residents recover safely at home and ease the burden on families in need.

🤝 Joining hands for Children’s Day at Phuket Boat Lagoon 🚲🎉

This Children’s Day, 10 January, the 5 Star Marine team is proud to join hands with Phuket Boat Lagoon to celebrate and support a fun-filled day for the kids in our local community.

As part of the celebrations, 5 Star Marine will be donating 3 bicycles to children attending the event. A bicycle is more than just a gift; it’s freedom, confidence, independence, and a whole lot of smiles. 🚲✨

As a family-run business, our team is made up of fathers, mothers, and children ourselves. Supporting families and the next generation is something that truly matters to us, and we couldn’t be happier to celebrate this important national holiday together.

We’re looking forward to a day full of laughter, joy, and great memories at the Phuket Boat Lagoon Children’s Day Party.

🎄 Christmas Reflections in Phuket 💙

Christmas time in Phuket has always been one of the hardest times of the year for me.

It brings back vivid memories of the first Christmas during Covid — when a small group of friends and I spent our days delivering life bags and toys to children whose families had been deeply affected by the pandemic. There were no celebrations, no holidays as we knew them then — just people doing their best to look after one another in a very uncertain world.

This Christmas, I took a moment to sit with those memories and reflect on how much the world has changed since Covid. How far we’ve come. And how incredibly lucky many of us are now — to be able to gather, to celebrate, and to share moments of joy with our families and friends.

It’s also a reminder that not every family is in the same position. While some of us celebrate, others are still facing challenges far greater than our own.

If this season has taught me anything, it’s gratitude — for health, for community, and for the ability to help where we can.
