The Ministry of Education Fiji, led by Honourable Minister Aseri Radrodro, is taking bold steps to integrate digital innovation and artificial intelligence (AI) into the national education system. Speaking at the Drive Growth with Digital Transformation Workshop, held in collaboration with experts from Wuhan Technical University at Nalagi Hotel in Nadi, the Minister emphasized the critical need for digital transformation in classrooms across the country.
“The world is changing rapidly, and digital literacy is no longer optional,” said Hon. Radrodro. “It is essential to ensure our students are equipped for the future workforce.” He outlined the Ministry’s 10-Year Plan and reaffirmed commitments under the 2023 Denarau Declaration, highlighting key focus areas such as IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, internet accessibility, teacher training, and the integration of AI tools in schools. These initiatives align closely with the National Digital Strategy 2025–2030 and the National Education Policy Framework 2024–2033.
Hon. Radrodro also officially opened the 95th Fiji Teachers’ Union (FTU) Annual Conference, where he expressed appreciation for FTU’s ongoing support for teachers and the education system. He encouraged continued partnership as the Ministry implements key education reforms and reminded teachers of their vital role in shaping the minds of the next generation.
These efforts mark a significant milestone in building a future-ready, inclusive, and innovative education system for all Fijians as the nation prepares for the challenges of Industry 4.0.
