OpenmindProjects - Ethical and responsible volunteer work in Asia OpenmindProjects is a nonprofit grassroots organization empowering impoverished youth and their parents in Southeast Asia.

Openmind Projects is an aid, development and international volunteer organisation supporting over 60 projects in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Nepal. We welcome international volunteers to teach English, IT, work at our ecotourism and marine conservation projects or support our development by working in our head office in Thailand.

At OpenmindProjects, we believe that access to education can open new perspectives and opportunities.

Currently, Inonn and Khai are working closely with students at a local college, sharing practical English skills in a simple, accessible, and collaborative way.

These daily sessions go beyond grammar and vocabulary: they are about exchange, mutual understanding, and building connections across different backgrounds. Seeing the students gain confidence in speaking English is our greatest reward.

We are delighted to welcome July with gratitude and excitement as volunteers & interns from France, Germany, Israel, China, and Myanmar join the OpenmindProjects family!

For almost 30 years, OpenmindProjects has been serving communities by providing meaningful educational opportunities and support. Together with our volunteers, we offer English, IT, and essential life skills to local students in need, including persons with disabilities, ethnic minority communities, orphans, and youth in juvenile rehabilitation centers.

Every volunteer brings new ideas, hope, and encouragement to the communities we serve. Together, we are creating meaningful, lasting impact that will inspire future generations.

𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆: 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗯𝘆𝗲, 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿! ❤️🎓

All good things must come to an end, but some goodbyes leave a much bigger mark than others. It is with a mix of deep emotion and immense pride that we celebrated the graduation ceremony of our Train The Trainers program! 🌟

A few months ago, these bright young people from the Karen refugee community arrived in Nong Khai, some of them intimidated by technology and hesitant to speak up.

Today, with big smiles, newly found confidence, and their Certificates of Achievement proudly in hand, they are ready to return to their communities.
Look at everything they achieved together:

Marketing: Found their voice, learned to pitch, and discovered their inner entrepreneur 🗣️

IT & AI: Conquered the digital world, mastering everything from Google Workspace to AI tools 💻

Product Development: Turned ideas into reality by creating and launching their very own chili paste product 🌶️

Saying goodbye to these amazing students wasn’t easy, but seeing them leave equipped with practical skills, a tight-knit team spirit, and unstoppable determination is our greatest reward.

They are no longer just students—they are the leaders of tomorrow.

A massive THANK YOU to our partner Capgemini for supporting this journey alongside us, and to all the trainers and volunteers who made it possible.

Early screening for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) can save lives, but access to testing is often limited. To bridge this gap, this innovative team built a non-invasive, electronic nose-based breath analysis platform.

Why their solution stands out:
🔹 96.67% Accuracy: It uses XGBoost Machine Learning to analyze Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) directly from exhaled breath.
🔹 Real-Time iOS App: Screening data is displayed instantly on a mobile application to maximize healthcare accessibility.
🔹 Community Impact: It democratizes medical tech, allowing early-stage screening to happen right at the community level outside of major hospitals.
