🇹🇭 ลัดดาพร (“น้ำ”) อายุ 17 ปี อาศัยอยู่กับตายาย หลังถูกพ่อแม่ทอดทิ้งตั้งแต่ยังเป็นทารก

ปัจจุบันเรียนอยู่ชั้น ม.5 โรงเรียนโกสัมพีวิทยา

ครอบครัวมีรายได้จากการรับจ้างรายวันแบบไม่แน่นอน และเบี้ยยังชีพของรัฐเล็กน้อย ซึ่งไม่เพียงพอ ที่พักอาศัยอยู่นอกหมู่บ้าน ไม่มีน้ำประปาและไม่มีไฟฟ้า ต้องซื้อน้ำและขนมาใช้เอง

น้องมีชุดนักเรียนเพียงชุดเดียว และอาหารในแต่ละวันไม่เพียงพอ

วันนี้ OTV ได้ส่งมอบข้าว ไข่ และปลากระป๋องให้กับครอบครัว และจะสนับสนุนชุดนักเรียนเพิ่มเติม

การอยู่ใกล้สำคัญ มันหมายถึงเราไม่ได้มองความเดือดร้อนจากระยะไกล แต่เราอยู่กับมัน เข้าใจมัน และตอบสนองอย่างเหมาะสม

🇦🇺 Laddaporn (“Nam”), 17, lives with her grandparents. She was abandoned when she was very young.

She is in Year 11 at Kosamphi Wittaya School.

They rely on day labour when there is work and a small welfare payment. It is not enough. Their home is outside the village, with no piped water or electricity. Water is bought and carried in.

She has one school uniform. Food is often not enough.

Today we delivered rice, eggs, and canned fish, and will provide a school uniform.

Being close matters. It means we don’t see need from a distance. We get involved.

Hello everyone,

My name is Somphong Matwichai. I work from the OTV office in Pattaya, and in village communities across Thailand, coordinating OTV’s community-based work.

In many low-income and rural communities, girls still grow up without safe spaces or consistent support. This is the gap OTV’s village-based girls’ program is designed to fill.

We are now expanding this work across multiple provinces, with plans to open at least 10 new local spaces for girls.

Each location is a simple, safe space where girls come together each week — to create, to learn, and to grow in confidence. Through these weekly activities, they build life skills and positive connections that support their development over time.

Each site is supported by a local coordinator who helps guide weekly activities and ensure the program runs consistently. Coordinators receive modest weekly support in recognition of their time and responsibility.

The program runs over 26 weeks. After that, each location may continue or grow further, depending on outcomes and community needs.

All coordinators and locations are carefully selected and reviewed. We work closely with local leaders and school principals to ensure trust, safety, and strong local grounding.

At its heart, this program is simple — to help girls build confidence, develop skills, and feel supported within their own communities.

This is an important moment for OTV, with work already underway in Roi Et, Kanchanaburi, and Korat, alongside careful expansion into new communities.

🇹🇭 ทุกคนในทีมของเรามาจากหมู่บ้าน และรู้จักปัญหาและความยากลำบากในชุมชนเหล่านี้ดี

ทางภาคเหนือของประเทศไทย คุณ นภ ทำงานเป็นประธาน อสม และช่วยเหลือผู้คนในหมู่บ้านรอบ ๆ พื้นที่ของเขาอย่างมาก ขณะเดียวกันก็มีส่วนสำคัญกับงานของ OTV ด้วยเช่นกัน

🇦🇺 Every member of our team comes from a village and knows the challenges and struggles in these communities firsthand.

Khun Nophadol is the President of the Village Health Volunteer Network. He supports people in his village and nearby communities, and contributes to OTV’s wider work.

This week, he coordinated the distribution of rice and basic essentials, supported repairs to homes damaged by storms in the region, and arranged a long-distance hospital trip for Ms. Thaniporn and her disabled daughter, Chanchanok — all funded by OTV.

He brings knowledge, experience, and passion directly into our work. We’re deeply grateful for his contribution. The work we do every day is never straightforward. Without people like Nophadol, there is no OTV.

เรื่องที่น่าตื่นเต้นกำลังเกิดขึ้นในตอนนี้

Really exciting things are happening.

We’re building a 10-site Girls Prevention Program in Thailand, focused on something simple but deeply important — helping girls in vulnerable communities be safer, supported, and protected.

This isn’t a short-term project or a series of activities that come and go. It’s about building something steady and reliable — a system delivered across multiple communities, with local teams, shared standards, and real consistency over time.

Behind the numbers are real villages and real families. Increasingly, we’re being asked to come because the need is there, and communities are looking for something reliable and long-term.

We know rising living costs are making things harder for many. We’re really grateful for the support that makes this work possible.

🇹🇭 ประเทศไทย เมียนมา ลาว และกัมพูชา มีเด็กผู้หญิงและหญิงสาวประมาณ 20–30 ล้านคน—ใกล้เคียงกับจำนวนประชากรทั้งหมดของออสเตรเลีย

👉 หลายล้านคนเผชิญการแต่งงานในวัยเด็กหรือความสัมพันธ์ในวัยเด็กและวัยรุ่น
👉 หลายล้านคนเผชิญความรุนแรง
👉 มีหลายแสนคนถึงหลายล้านคนมีความเสี่ยงต่อการค้ามนุษย์
👉 อีกหลายล้านคนอยู่ในภาวะยากจน ไม่ได้เรียนหนังสือ หรือทำงานที่ไม่มั่นคง

🇦🇺 Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia together have around 20–30 million girls and young women—about the size of Australia.

For many, the risks don’t come one at a time. They stack: early relationships, violence, trafficking risk, poverty, being out of school, unstable work. Same lives, same time.

These aren’t separate problems—and treating them like they are misses the point.

Results are what matter. Vulnerability is either reduced, or it isn’t.

So grateful for the support behind OTV. Change is hard, slow, and messy—but it is happening in real places, with real people. That’s why we keep going.

🇹🇭 ทุกครั้งที่มีโอกาสช่วย เราก็พยายามทำให้ดีที่สุด ไม่ได้ทำแบบรีบ ๆ หรือไม่คิดก่อน แต่เราทำงานกับคนในพื้นที่ของเรา ทั้งผู้ใหญ่บ้าน ครู และอาสาสมัครในชุมชน

คนเหล่านี้อยู่ใกล้ชิดกับชีวิตจริงในหมู่บ้าน เขาเห็นและรู้ว่าใคร “ลำบากจริง ๆ” ไม่ใช่แค่ดูจากความรู้สึกหรือสิ่งที่เห็นข้างนอก แต่เป็นความเข้าใจจากการอยู่ด้วยกันจริง ๆ

งานนี้ไม่ง่าย แต่เราก็ยังเดินหน้าต่อไป

🇦🇺 Every opportunity we have to help, we take it. Not without thought or planning, but with careful judgement and trust in our local volunteer network — village leaders, teachers, and community volunteers.

They are closest to the reality on the ground and help us identify who genuinely needs support, based on real understanding, not perception or emotion.

Nothing about this work is easy, but we keep going.

🇹🇭🇦🇺 Weekly Update

Hope everyone had a good Songkran (Thai New Year), spent time with family, and travelled safely.

A quick update from us this week:

We have two roles open — Program Manager for our rice distribution work and Girls Education & Development Coordinator. If you think you’re a good fit, please get in touch.

We’re also looking for volunteers who can give a few hours a month to support our work with vulnerable families.

Our Pattaya office is open Monday to Friday, and Ann is available for any questions or support.

If you would like to support the work financially, donations can be made via our Bangkok Bank account (details on our website). Please let us know so we can properly acknowledge and thank you.

If you know families struggling with food, income, or basic needs for their children, please reach out. We’re a small organisation, but where we can help, we will.

The next few weeks are very busy as we work across several provinces, including Kanchanaburi, Roi Et, Kamphaeng Phet, Chonburi, and Nakhon Phanom.

Costs are rising. The families we work with already struggle to meet basic needs, and when things get harder, there is very little they can do about it.

Every bit of support matters.
