Our sign is up. 📍 The HDF Mercy Centre team recently shared this photo with us from the Romklao Preschool in Khlong Toei. Seeing this small sign in place means a lot to us — and it stands for something much bigger.

These days, graduation celebrations are taking place at the preschool.

In a formal reception at the Residence of the German Ambassador in Bangkok, hosted by the German Embassy Bangkok, Dr. Ernst Reichel, the official cheque handover of this year’s Thai.GER Charity Football Tournament took place — a moment of shared commitment and genuine gratitude.

We were honoured to welcome many of our sponsors, as well as representatives of the Austrian Embassy Bangkok, Deputy Head of Mission Andreas Sumper, and Jean-Claude Ray of the Embassy of Switzerland in Thailand.

Dr. Ernst Reichel also presented the Ambassadors Cup to the German Allstars, who won this year’s tournament after a dramatic final.

During the evening, 760,000 THB were officially handed over to Usanee Janngeon, Executive Director of the HDF Mercy Centre, together with John Vogel and Prawina Sompong — a record result for our tournament and a strong sign of collective support.

The funds will support the Romklao Preschool in Khlong Toey. With annual operating costs of approximately 1 million THB, this contribution already secures a large part of the school’s yearly budget and provides meaningful stability for the children and the team behind them.

Khun Usanee expressed her deep gratitude for the engagement of sponsors and volunteers, saying: “The children know that there are people who truly care about them. Thank you for that.”

For the Thai.GER Supporters, this moment marks not an endpoint, but a continuation. We remain in close contact with the Mercy Centre team and will continue regular visits, guided tours and opportunities for those who wish to see the Romklao Preschool and engage directly.

Since 2012, the Thai.GER Supporters have supported the Romklao Preschool through their annual charity initiatives — a partnership built on trust, responsibility and long-term commitment.

It was a special day for the HDF Mercy Centre in Bangkok: the Open House at Mercy Farm. The Mercy Farm provides a home and community for boys, offering them a safe environment where they can grow up together, learn responsibility and experience nature and animals first-hand — something many children from Bangkok’s largest poverty area, Klong Toey, would otherwise never have access to.

We, the Thai.GER Supporters Bangkok, were honoured to be invited by Prawina, John and the Mercy Centre team. Founder Father Joseph Maier addressed the many guests, sharing reflections on decades of dedicated work for families in Klong Toey and reminding us why this mission remains so important today.

✨ A very special highlight: the children from the Romklao Preschool performed a joyful dance they had prepared for the occasion. Christian and Rüdiger had the honour of presenting small gifts to the children, and the ongoing engagement of the Thai.GER Supporters was introduced to the guests. 🙏

The Romklao Preschool children are especially close to our hearts. ⚽ Through the proceeds of the annual Thai.GER Charity Tournaments, a significant portion of the funding required to operate the preschool each year is made possible. This long-standing partnership is built on trust, continuity and shared responsibility.

Open House at Mercy Farm was a powerful reminder that sustainable support is not about single events — it is about long-term relationships.

This year’s Thai.GER Charity Football Tournament on the grounds of RIS Swiss Section was supported by an incredible group of sponsors who helped turn the day into what it became — generous, joyful and full of energy.

🏨 Hotels and resorts across Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Rai contributed overnight stays, brunch and dining vouchers, as well as spa and wellness experiences. From water filters by STIEBEL ELTRON Thailand to Topgolf Thailand vouchers and a hand-signed jersey by Jens Lehmann, the prizes made this year’s silent auction truly special.

⛺ A special mention goes to Santa Fe Relocation, who provided shade tents for the teams and created space for children’s games, and to Bumrungrad International Hospital, whose medical team supported the event on site and ensured everyone stayed safe.

Additional sponsors supported the children’s programme and the Kids’ Run — including AZO Ltd. and partners already highlighted in our previous post.

🍔 Food and drinks were equally part of the experience — from refreshing beverages to favourites like Berlin Döner and Denny’s Burger, keeping players, families and supporters well fuelled throughout the day.

Many teams traditionally consist of employees and colleagues from our partner companies and organisations — something we truly value as part of the tournament’s spirit.

🔨 The silent auction became one of the highlights: lively, competitive and full of good spirit. Toward the end, several bids turned into exciting head-to-head races — all in support of the HDF Mercy Centre children.

As one participant put it: “The auction was a wonderful idea — I discovered experiences I might never have tried otherwise.”

💛 Thanks to the record amount raised, the Romklao Preschool can continue to secure the ongoing operation of its facility. The children were part of the day — and remain at the heart of what this tournament supports. The official cheque presentation will take place in February.

This year’s children’s programme was made possible through additional sponsorship from partners. 🙏

More than 50 children took part in the charity run and proudly finished with medals and big smiles.
In the sports hall, exciting football matches followed: teams from the HDF Mercy Centre played alongside BVB youth teams and other young players. In the end, Port FC took the win — but the spirit and energy of all teams mattered just as much. ⚽️🙌

We were honoured to hand over the donation cheque to Prawina from the Mercy Centre and the children of the Romklao Preschool. 💛

The children’s programme was organised by Eve Hummler (Thai.GER) together with a dedicated group of helpers. Thanks to all of you! 👏

More than we hoped for! The Thai.GER Charity Football Tournament 2026 truly exceeded all expectations. With perfect weather, a fantastic atmosphere and guests joining us from early morning until late evening, the day was filled with sport, joy and a strong sense of community.

💛 We are incredibly happy to already share this news: This year’s tournament has achieved a record result!

While a few final donations are still coming in, we can already confirm that we have exceeded last year’s total of 570,000 THB. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.

👧 Morning highlights – kids first

The day started with the Kids Charity Run, full of energy, smiles and proud little finishers receiving their medals. This was followed by the kids’ tournament, with fantastic performances by all teams. Congratulations to U10 Champion: Port FC.

A very special moment for all of us: Two teams from HDF Mercy Centre took part in the tournament, and children from Mercy Center performed a beautiful dance together with their teachers – a truly touching highlight of the day.

⚽ A milestone moment – women’s football

For the first time in the history of the Thai.GER Tournament, women’s teams competed on the pitch.

Four teams took part, bringing incredible energy, passion and team spirit. Congratulations to Venus FC, the winners of the women’s tournament – and heartfelt respect to all teams for making this historic debut so special.

🏆 Evening matches & final

The afternoon and evening brought exciting men’s matches, leading to a dramatic final decided by penalty shoot-out.

Congratulations to German Allstars, who won the Ambassadors Cup against Perfect Boyz. The official trophy presentation and cheque handover to the Mercy Center – Romklao Preschool will take place in February during an embassy reception.
