In Remembrance of Saw Kyaw Khai
It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of Kickstart Art's longtime teacher and artist, Saw Kyaw Khai.
Since joining KSA in 2014, Saw Kyaw Khai served as a senior art teacher, bringing art to students in migrant schools along the Thai-Burma border in Mae Sot. His passion for art was deeply rooted in his own story. The son of parents who worked in agriculture, he carried a strong connection to the land and its people, and his beloved watercolors captured the vibrant, everyday life and cultural practices of the Burmese people.
As an artist and educator, Saw Kyaw Khai found his greatest joy in working with children. He taught far more than technique: he nurtured creativity, self-expression, and confidence in every student he reached.
The world has lost a brilliant and creative artist, a dedicated educator, and a humble champion of the arts. Our thoughts are with his family, his colleagues, and the many students whose lives he touched.
