Just another top tier activity to add to the to do list on your Huay Pakkoot visit😌🌱

Our immersive jungle trek/camping experience consists of a hike through a jungle rich in biodiversity, exploring bat caves, and the opportunity to learn how to build a shelter and cook using only what the forest provides🎋 if you’re lucky you may even get the chance to spot wild gibbons that call this jungle home🐒

Want to know what one of our elephant hikes looks like? Come with us to meet Rambo!⬇️

🐘 We start the hike by meeting with our mahout (elephant caretaker), who leads us on a short trek to meet the elephant. No hike looks like same, as our elephants are free to roam the forest🌱

🐘 Safety first - the closest person to the elephant is always the mahout, followed by staff, and then volunteers. We will then spend some time giving you some information on the specific elephant, as well as answering any questions you might have.

🐘 Each elephant personality is completely different - you may spend your hike following the elephant as they trek through the forest, or simply observing as they munch on some forest goodness (elephants spend around 12 hours a day eating!)

🐘 We will then end the hike with a lunch cooked on an open fire by local villagers using traditional cooking techniques🫔

When one door closes, another must open.

The loss of GVI has brought sadness and shock to many people from all across the globe. However, through the hard work and dedication of everyone over the years with GVI Chiangmai, Huay Pakkoot has established local partner organisations that have enabled the community to thrive. The families and elephants of Huay Pakkoot remain top priority, and we now have the opportunity to focus and grow like never before. So although the GVI chapter has ended, our story still continues😎 watch this space!!!
