we make sure they’re looked after and feel secure the whole way through. It’s easy to look at our dogs now and forget where they started. But we remember.

Whether it’s their life here at the shelter, or the journey it takes to get them into a home…
seeing them safe, settled and loved is everything we hope for.

It feels strangely fitting that, even thousands of miles away from Koh Samui, a dog was there reminding Anna why she started this incredible journey to Everest Base Camp.

Exhausted and emotional - day 6 of trekking was tough, and there was a moment where Anna felt completely done. And then, a dog appeared beside her for a while, giving her the final push she needed to keep going.

Thanks to Anna’s incredible feat, her fundraiser raised enough money to help us work towards building a third training park at the shelter. A more shaded space halfway up the hill that will be invaluable during the intense heat and monsoon season, giving our dogs and team a safer, more practical area to train and spend time.

Anna, we honestly cannot thank you enough. What an achievement. ⛰️

👏💫 Another amazing team training session where we continued to level up so we can keep on doing our best for our dogs!

💪❤️ Our mission: ensure our dogs are as happy as can be while with us, fulfilled, and set them up for success in their forever homes.

Under the guidance of our wonderful dog trainer, Robyn from .dogtraining and the team got stuck in last week and it was BRILLIANT!

👏 So much progress seen within the team and the dogs! Next level unlocked! 🥳

🔥 Learning and having fun, and doing it all to help dogs. That's what its all about! ❤️

🥰🐾 What an amazing few days we've had here at the shelter - our wonderful dog trainer, Robyn (.dogtraining and ) was back for our next hands on learning session as our team continually strive to level up to help our doggies as best we can. 🙌🐾

We want our dogs to thrive (not just survive!) while with us and we do our best to set them up for success in their forever homes. That takes a lot of commitment, endless amounts of passion and the correct knowledge on how to do so!

🤒🤧🫩 Ive been a bit poorly and am still not fully better - so this is a quick glimpse of whats been happening ... watch this space as more updates will come soon! ❤️🥰

But... its been fabulous! Learning, leveling up, having fun and being surrounded by the best type of humans who are all on a mission to help our amazing street dogs... and of course spending time with our dogs who are all just absolutely wonderful wee souls. What's not to love! ❤️🤩

I may feel a bit rubbish health wise but my heart is so happy and I'm still absolutely buzzing!

Time to bust some myths again!
Some people say rescue dogs aren’t good with families…
and that older dogs aren’t worth adopting.

But here’s the truth 👇

Some of the best family dogs are rescues. Dogs who have learned to read people, to move gently, to fit into a home, because all they’ve ever wanted is to belong.

And the older ones?
What you see is what you get - calm, loyal, and grateful for a second chance. While its possible you may have less time with them, the love they will give you in that time and the knowledge you’ve given them their best last chapter is priceless. ❤️

✨️ Meet Ernie Karu ✨️

❤️ Absolutely adorable and ready for adoption! ❤️

🤎 Ernie is one of our most adorable big goofballs! When he came to us, he had no hair, his wee ribs were sticking out and he was just gazing up at us with his huge bright eyes. Poor wee soul. 🥺 Due to his appearance, the original owner named him Gollum!

Not on my watch though! Hes sooo handsome now so we changed his name. 🥰 Ernie Karu is part of the Ooni Furry Morale Team (thats where the Karu part comes from & they sponsor him monthly!) 🍕 🔥

😃 Ernie is now around 7.5 years old.

He is one of our most confident, happy little souls. He barks a little at people when he first meets them (but only inside his compound) but as soon as he realises youre his friend hes so full of love and cuddly and such good fun to hang out with. He LOVES playing with his ball and hes smashing his training - his sit, recall and walking on leash are on point 🔥!
Hes a really good boy (with just a little twinkle of super cute mischief in his eyes too!) and has so much love to give a special someone.

One small change that makes a big difference when walking a rescue dog 👇

Don’t let the lead drag. Keep it off the floor and gently reel in / reel out as you move. It gives you more control, avoids tangles, and stops the leash getting stuck which can make your dog feel uncomfortable.

It takes a bit of practice… but once you’ve got it, everything feels calmer 🤍
