Nadine, the black beauty who is up for adoption, has decided that the highest and safest place right now is the donation table, so she has claimed this unique dry spot to wait until the water hopefully has drained away.

Unfortunately even more heavy rains are announced and the dam on the nearby river will be opened, and then extensive floodwaters are expected. We don’t know what impact that will have on us.

For now, the concrete blocks in the kennels are still providing the dogs with a few square meters of dry space, but if the water rises further, we won’t know where to take them. The dogs that can’t jump up the concrete because they are old or disabled, have been brought to the area around the house.

All we can do right now is hope. The streets around the shelter are flooded too. We are surrounded by water 😞

🆘 🛟 You’ve probably already seen it on the news. Many parts of Thailand are currently experiencing flooding. Unfortunately, the shelter has also been affected. Within a few hours, the drains were flooded, and the water slowly began to rise. Now the dogs have to take refuge on the concrete slabs. It’s going to be difficult because all the dogs are constantly wet, there’s no room to run around, and if this condition isn’t changing soon this will have a very negative impact 😞

We’re very worried because heavy, continuous rain is forecast for the coming days. We hope no one gets sick. No visitors will come during these weather conditions and we are very worried about the donations of food.

Once this chaos is over, we’ll have to clean everything up and get it back in shape; for now, all we can do is pray and hope that nothing worse happens. It is also a terrible situation for the street dogs outside. Basically everyone is impacted.

Our food store is running low. 🐾

Every day, we feed around 650 dogs, inside our shelter and outside. Dogs inside eat twice a day, so that's about 1,000 meals a day.

Each meal is a mix of kibble, meat, and vegetables. The mix changes depending on what gets donated. On average, we use 5–8 sacks of kibble, 5 kg of chicken or other fresh meat, 2 kg of vegetables, plus vitamins and other supplements. Every single day.

Food donations do come in, but they run out fast.

💔 POOR BOY SUNNY 🐾

This poor little boy is only about one year old. His name is Sunny.

Sunny was found by Khun Ben, walking unsteadily and covered in small patches lookalike wounds on his belly. He was clearly in a very poor condition, so he was brought to our foundation immediately for examination and treatment.

Our first test for canine distemper was thankfully negative. But the examination revealed several small lumps on his abdomen, and further testing showed the heartbreaking reason for his weakness:

🩸 Sunny is positive for Hepatozoon, a blood parasite commonly transmitted when a dog ingests an infected tick.

His blood results also show significant anemia. His hematocrit is only 26%, while the normal range is around 35–55%. His red blood cell count and hemoglobin are also too low. His platelet count is slightly below normal as well.

The good news is that his liver and kidney values are currently within the normal range, and his white blood cell count is also normal.

But Sunny needs treatment and close monitoring.

💊 He has started a long course of Doxycycline, together with a blood supplement and Prednisolone.

He will also receive two Imizol (Imidocarb) injections, 14 days apart, to fight the blood parasite.

More blood was taken and sent to the Central Lab for further testing so we can understand his condition even better.

This little boy has already been through so much at such a young age. Now he needs us to give him the chance to recover. ❤️‍🩹

Please help us cover Sunny’s medical treatment and give him the care he desperately needs 🙏

🙏 The Mae Phim Dog Rescue Foundation would like to express our sincere gratitude to Wuttilert Karun Animal Hospital for visiting our center to conduct a CSR activity. 🐾

The hospital team generously donated dry food, canned food, treats, as well as medications and wound care supplies—items we rely on daily to care for our sick and injured animals.

The team also personally attended to the dogs, administering deworming medication, bathing and wiping them down, and grooming those with matted fur so they could feel light and comfortable again. 💕

Additionally, the hospital team and our staff exchanged knowledge regarding medication and animal care, which will help us provide even better care for the dogs in the future.

We also extend our thanks to all the companies that supported this event. 🥰
