Yaowawit School, Lodge and Farm

Yaowawit School, Lodge and Farm A government-approved welfare boarding school for children from underprivileged families. The school shelters 120 children as of August 2014.

Yaowawit School was founded initially to help the children who were the victims of the 2004 tsunami. Over the years, the school has expanded and refocused its mission and goals to help the children who are the victims of poverty. Some of our children are orphans. Some others were left uncared for, abandoned, abused or exposed to violence, prostitution and even human trafficking. At the heart of Ya

owawit, we want to empower these children with practical education so that they have skills and knowledge necessary to get a job or to continue their education to a higher level.

🚗 Our Kids at the Bangkok Motor Show!

How cool is this? Our students' artwork is on display at the 47th Bangkok International Motor Show on a Mercedes-Benz Thailand exhibit car — and today we got to see it in person.
A huge thank you to the Mercedes-Benz Thailand team for this once in a lifetime opportunity. Future engineers and designers incoming.

As part of our Bangkok trip, our students visited the remarkable Rama 9 Museum.

Dedicated to the legacy of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the museum brought science to life in the most hands-on and immersive way. Through three fascinating galleries our students explored the origins of our planet and solar system, discovered the delicate balance between humans and the natural world, and learned about the extraordinary royal projects and vision of King Rama IX that continue to shape Thailand today. All brought to life through 4D theatre, projection mapping, animatronic dinosaurs and VR.

A truly special experience that goes far beyond the classroom — and we hope the curiosity it sparked carries through long after the school break.

🚗 School Break at Yaowawit — Bangkok International Motor Show.

Today a delegation of our teachers and students visited the 47th Bangkok International Motor Show — and this was no ordinary visit! Our students had previously been given the incredible opportunity to decorate one of the cars on display at the Mercedes-Benz Thailand booth, and today they got to see their work exhibited on the showroom floor.

We are deeply grateful to the Mercedes-Benz Thailand team and Y-Life for their generous invitation and for giving our kids a truly unique experience that most people could only dream of. Seeing their creativity showcased at one of Thailand's most prestigious automotive events is something they will carry with them for a long time.

Beyond their own contribution, the visit offered a rare and inspiring glimpse into Thailand's automotive and engineering industry — the kind of real-world impression that no classroom can provide. Who knows — perhaps some of our students will find themselves back at that show one day, not as visitors but as engineers, designers, and innovators.

🎍 School Break at Yaowawit — Bamboo Crafts
Learn to Earn — our motto, which shows in some of our break activities this year.
Some of our kids are crafting beautiful bamboo vases entirely by hand. Staying busy, staying focused, and picking up a skill that is worth something in the real world. The finished vases will be sold, putting a little money in their pockets as a reward for their own hard work and creativity.
Handmade and homegrown.

🥗 School Break at Yaowawit — Cooking Som Tam!
At Yaowawit School we believe that great learning happens beyond the classroom too! This school break, our students rolled up their sleeves and learned to prepare one of Thailand's most beloved dishes — Som Tam, the famously delicious and very spicy green papaya salad!
From shredding fresh papaya to pounding and mixing the ingredients in a traditional mortar and pestle, our young chefs observed and practiced every step of the way. A tasty life skill they won't forget any time soon.

🎓 Congratulations to the Class of 2568 (2025)! 🎉
Yesterday, we said a proud and heartfelt farewell to our Grade 9 students as they graduated from Yaowawit School.

Grade 9 was a truly extraordinary class — and in all the best ways. With just 8 students, it was our smallest class in recent memory, but what they lacked in numbers they more than made up for in heart. Every single student was attentive, studious, and engaged, making every lesson a genuine pleasure for their teachers. A small class, but an incredibly bright one.

And while the group shone together, each individual brought something uniquely their own. Grade 9 was home to dedicated members of the student council, talented dancers, passionate football players, and some of the most warm, lively, and grateful students at our school. They were not just a class — they were a family, and a deeply cherished part of the Yaowawit School community.

Now, that family is heading out into the world. Next year, our graduates will go on to college, pursuing their dreams of becoming teachers, engineers, cooks, and so much more. We have no doubt that the skills, values, and ambition they have developed here at Yaowawit School will carry them through every challenge that lies ahead.

We are so proud of each and every one of you. Go shine — and please come back and visit us someday! ✨

🏕️ Scout Camp — Three Days of Growth, Fun & Team Spirit!
Last week, Yaowawit School students headed into the great outdoors for three days of adventure, learning, and unforgettable memories!
Our scout camp is about so much more than what you find in a textbook. Our students had the opportunity to develop skills that will stay with them for life: teamwork, cooperation, resilience, and creative problem-solving — where every student has a role, every voice matters, and no challenge is faced alone.

Day 1 kicked off with an exciting multi-kilometre trek through the beautiful countryside around Kapong, dotted with activity stations along the route. Navigating as a team, the students relied on each other every step of the way! In the afternoon, the students were challenged to light their own fires and cook for themselves. While the weather had other plans and unfortunately forced us to cancel both this activity and the overnight camping, our students took it all in their stride.

Day 2 was packed with hands-on skills: compass navigation, first aid, and knot tying. But the greatest lesson of the day went beyond any individual skill — it was the experience of working as a true team, where every single member is valued and no one is left behind.
That evening, the camp came alive with a spectacular bonfire celebration, featuring live music, dancing, and wonderful performances by our students. A moment of pure joy and community!
Day 3 brought the camp to a close with a heartfelt closing ceremony — a moment where the bonds forged over those three days were truly felt by everyone present.
Our Stundens came, they challenged themselves, and they grew — together.

Annual Field Trip Day at Yaowawit School! ✨️
On Monday, Yaowawit School held its annual field trip — a highlight of the school year that gives our students the chance to explore the Phang Nga region and gather experiences that no classroom can give them.
Our younger students had a wonderful and action-packed day, with visits to the cinema, a zoo, and a temple. It was a blend of culture, nature, and fun as they discovered both local and exotic animals along the way.
Our older students had an equally exciting — and truly unique — adventure. They visited the Royal Thai Navy vessel HTMS Krabi, where they got an inside look at life on board a naval ship: from navigation and daily routines to the impressive equipment that keeps the crew ready for anything. A window into a possible future career.
The day didn't stop there. The group then visited the Sea Turtle Conservation Center, where the focus turned to sustainability and the vital role sea turtles play in maintaining healthy ocean ecosystems. On the journey home, a stop at the historic Governor's Mansion in Takua Pa brought local history to life in the most memorable way.
It was a day filled with laughter, discovery, and life lessons for every single student. We are so proud of our curious and enthusiastic learners!

Farm Work with Grade 6 🌱
Today, Grade 6 helped at our hydroponic salad farm — one of the hands-on learning stations in our pre-vocational education program.
At Yaowawit School, our students don’t only focus on academics; they also develop practical life skills that prepare them for the future. By learning how to grow and care for fresh produce, they gain real-world experience, responsibility, and an understanding of sustainable agriculture.
At Yaowawit School, we believe in “Learn to Earn” — empowering our students with the knowledge and skills they need to build independent and meaningful lives.
