▪️Exhibition & Public Forum: ‘I can’t sell this art’
🟡The creative labor sector in Thailand continues to face persistent economic insecurity. Despite the inherent value of their work, many creative practitioners are unable to sustain their livelihoods within the current economic system and policy framework.
🟡This situation does not stem from individual shortcomings or lack of ability; rather, it is the result of structural conditions shaped by economic, social, and state governance systems that remain inadequate. The absence of comprehensive welfare provisions, accessible spaces, and a supportive cultural ecosystem has left many artists and creative workers unable to live and work with stability and dignity.
🟡The exhibition and public discussion series “I can’t sell this art” is therefore organized to use art as a critical tool for reflecting on these structural challenges. It seeks to connect these lived realities to broader processes of political participation—particularly the act of voting in favor of drafting a new constitution, a crucial mechanism for shaping the long-term management of rights and the quality of life of the population. The project is grounded in the shared experiences of numerous creative practitioners in Thai society who have not failed due to a lack of talent or the quality of their work, but who remain constrained by economic structures, social conditions, and state policies that do not support sustainable creative labor or dignified living.
🟡“The phrase 'I can’t sell this art' doesn't mean the market has no demand for art. Instead, it reflects a lack of creative spaces, support systems, and the basic social welfare necessary for creators to lead stable lives and sustain their work.
🟡This exhibition bridges the gap between art, economics, and politics. It invites us to ask: if we could shape our own future through a 'new constitution,' how would we design the lives we want to live? And how would we design a state that truly supports the quality of life for everyone—including its creators?”
🟡This exhibition will be held from 21 January to 28 February 2026
at the Exhibition Gallery, 1st Floor, Royal Garden Plaza Pattaya, Chonburi.

🟡ภาคแรงงานสร้างสรรค์ในประเทศไทยกำลังเผชิญกับความไม่มั่นคงทางเศรษฐกิจอย่างต่อเนื่อง แม้ผลงานจะมีคุณค่า แต่กลับไม่สามารถดำรงอยู่ได้อย่างยั่งยืนในระบบเศรษฐกิจและนโยบายปัจจุบัน ปัญหาดังกล่าวไม่ได้เกิดจากความสามารถของปัจเจก หากแต่เป็นผลจากโครงสร้างทางเศรษฐกิจ สังคม และการบริหารจัดการของรัฐ ที่ยังขาดการสนับสนุนด้านสวัสดิการ พื้นที่ และระบบนิเวศทางวัฒนธรรมที่เพียงพอ ส่งผลให้ศิลปินและนักสร้างสรรค์จำนวนมากไม่สามารถใช้ชีวิตและประกอบอาชีพได้อย่างมั่นคง
🟡นิทรรศการและวงพูดคุยสาธารณะ ‘I can’t sell this art’ จึงจัดขึ้นเพื่อใช้ศิลปะเป็นเครื่องมือในการสะท้อนปัญหาเชิงโครงสร้างดังกล่าว พร้อมทั้งเชื่อมโยงประเด็นนี้เข้ากับกระบวนการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมือง โดยเฉพาะการ ‘โหวตเห็นชอบ’ เพื่อร่างรัฐธรรมนูญใหม่ ซึ่งเป็นกลไกสำคัญในการกำหนดทิศทางการจัดการสิทธิ และคุณภาพชีวิตของประชาชนในระยะยาว ซึ่งตั้งต้นจากประสบการณ์ร่วมของนักสร้างสรรค์จำนวนมากในสังคมไทย ที่ไม่ได้ล้มเหลวจากความสามารถหรือคุณภาพของงาน แต่ติดอยู่ในโครงสร้างทางเศรษฐกิจ สังคม และนโยบายรัฐ ที่ไม่เอื้อต่อการดำรงชีวิตและการทำงานสร้างสรรค์อย่างยั่งยืน
🟡คำว่า ‘ขายไม่ได้’ ไม่ได้หมายถึงตลาดไม่ต้องการศิลปะ แต่สะท้อนถึงการขาดพื้นที่ ขาดระบบการสนับสนุน และขาดสวัสดิการพื้นฐานที่ทำให้นักสร้างสรรค์สามารถมีชีวิตที่มั่นคงพอจะสร้างงานได้อย่างต่อเนื่อง
🟡นิทรรศการนี้จึงเป็นการพยายามเชื่อมโยงประเด็นศิลปะ เศรษฐกิจ และการเมืองเข้าด้วยกัน โดยชวนตั้งคำถามว่า หากประชาชนสามารถกำหนดอนาคตของตนเองผ่าน‘รัฐธรรมนูญใหม่’ เราจะสามารถออกแบบชีวิตที่อยากใช้ และสามารถออกแบบรัฐที่สนับสนุนคุณภาพชีวิตของผู้คน รวมไปถึงนักสร้างสรรค์อย่างไรได้บ้าง
