Indigenous Peoples Human Rights Defenders-IPHRDs Network, Asia

This network is a platform for solidarity, coordination and support among indigenous human rights defenders in Asia and their organizations.

This network was initially established last July 30, 2010 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia with the general objective to establish a platform for solidarity, coordination and support among indigenous human rights defenders and their organizations. This network was established to address the growing need of a common platform for indigenous human rights defenders to be able to promote the human rights issues

of their respective countries more effectively with other indigenous human rights organizations and with regional and international human rights mechanisms and procedures.

KATRIBU Welcomes Court Ruling Holding Red-Tagger Liable

We welcome the decision of the La Trinidad Municipa Trial Court holding former PROCOR chief R'win Pagkalinawan liable for red-tagging and ordering him to pay damages to Cordillera Peoples Alliance Chairperson Windel Bolinget. This ruling is a significant victory not only for Bolinget and the Cordillera peoples’ movement, but for all Indigenous Peoples, activists, human rights defenders, and government critics who have long been subjected to vilification, harassment, and threats through red-tagging.

Around 25 Indigenous Peoples delegates from Asia gathered this morning in UNHQ, New York as the Asia Indigenous Peoples Caucus to synergize and prepare for the 25th session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.

The Caucus will be deliver the joint statement of each agenda item on behalf of the Asia Indigenous Peoples Caucus.
