Thanks to your help children like me can graduate from high school
It is not uncommon for Thai parents to keep their child out of school when he or she turns 15 and compulsory education ends. Usually, the financial situation is the reason for this. FERC, the Foundation for the Education of Rural Children, makes it possible for these children to get their diploma after all. In close cooperation with the Education Department, FERC provides scholarships for senior high school students in government schools.
We are now looking for a volunteer immediately available, who manages the selection of students and the scholarship selection process and this role doesn’t require a huge time commitment. The foundation meets approximately once every 2 months, with the busiest period being between October and February each year.
You will work with a Thai volunteer for the liaison with the Education Department and contacts with students and their teachers. At least once a year you’ll organize school visits, practically carried out by the Education Department. The current volunteer remains available for questions and support.
You will become a member of the Advisory Committee of FERC, so you won’t have an official board function that requires a work permit. This has been officially confirmed by a lawyer.
FERC already supports Thai children in the Chiang Mai area for 25 years. We are a small-scale organization run entirely by volunteers. Currently, 90 children are able to attend secondary school thanks to a sponsorship from FERC.
Will you help us make a difference for even more children?
If you are interested or have any questions, please contact one of the volunteers below:

(The girl on the photo is Mai. She comes from a Hmong village that is very popular among tourists and wants to study English and Chinese, so that later she can work as a guide in her own village. Mai's first step to make her dreams come true is graduate at high school. Her family can’t afford the cost, but thanks to a sponsorship through FERC Mai can finish her High School.)
