Designing Climate Action for a Non-Linear World การออกแบบการดำเนินการด้านสภาพภูมิอากาศในโลกที่ไม่เป็นเชิงเส้น (อ่านภาษไทยต่อด้านล่าง)
From compliance and decarbonization to resilience, circularity, systems change, and a deeper appreciation of nature.
In climate action today, there is no shortage of initiatives, plans, and innovations. Yet outcomes remain uneven. Many companies are uncertain where to start. Too often, approaches remain compliance-driven, optimising reporting rather than outcomes — or drifting into greenwashing, where activity substitutes for real impact.
What increasingly matters for businesses and countries is not how many initiatives exist, but whether leaders understand both the risks and opportunities climate change creates for their business — and whether responses are designed systemically.
In practice, many organisations still underestimate how climate change affects their core business models, missing opportunities not only to become more resilient, but to rethink and transform how they create value. Incremental, non–systems-aware actions rarely deliver that shift.
It is from this perspective that TEDxChiangMai 2025, curated as a TED Countdown Flagship Event, was designed as a platform for sense-making rather than ready-made solutions, with particular emphasis on issues relevant to business, policy, and institutional decision-making.
Across talks, workshops, and field experiences, issues often treated separately — biodiversity, health, livelihoods, food systems, air pollution, cities, climate risk, and adaptation — repeatedly surfaced as interconnected parts of the same system.
Underlying this was a shared recognition that nature is not simply a resource to be managed, but a living system we depend on — one that must be understood and respected if resilience and long-term value creation are to be possible.
One powerful activity was the SDG Game, part of a global initiative connected to COP30, which made visible how collaboration, individual action, and mindset shifts matter, but only lead to impact when institutions, policies, and incentives are aligned to support them.
Taken together, these conversations point to a simple but challenging pattern:
Sustainability challenges persist not because we lack awareness, tools, or solutions, but because our systems still reward short-term optimisation over long-term resilience.
For business and policy alike, this means that ESG, reporting, and risk management remain necessary — but are no longer sufficient, especially in a world already experiencing floods, heat stress, and disruption.

ในงานด้านสภาพภูมิอากาศและความยั่งยืนในปัจจุบัน เราไม่ได้ขาดแคลนโครงการ แผนงาน หรือแนวคิดใหม่ ๆ แต่ผลลัพธ์ที่เกิดขึ้นจริงยังไม่สม่ำเสมอ หลายองค์กรยังไม่แน่ใจว่าจะเริ่มต้นอย่างไร แนวทางจำนวนไม่น้อยยังคงขับเคลื่อนด้วยการปฏิบัติตามข้อกำหนด เน้นการรายงานมากกว่าผลลัพธ์ หรือบางกรณีก็เสี่ยงจะกลายเป็นการทำเพียงเพื่อภาพลักษณ์ โดยกิจกรรมเข้ามาแทนที่ผลกระทบที่แท้จริง
สิ่งที่มีความสำคัญมากขึ้นสำหรับภาคธุรกิจและประเทศต่าง ๆ ไม่ใช่จำนวนโครงการที่มีอยู่ แต่คือการที่ผู้นำเข้าใจทั้ง ความเสี่ยงและโอกาส ที่การเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศสร้างขึ้นต่อธุรกิจของตน และการออกแบบการตอบสนองที่ คิดเชิงระบบ อย่างแท้จริง

สิ่งที่สะท้อนร่วมกันในหลายบทสนทนาคือ การตระหนักว่า ธรรมชาติไม่ใช่เพียงทรัพยากรที่ต้องจัดการ แต่เป็นระบบมีชีวิตที่เราพึ่งพาอาศัย และจำเป็นต้องเข้าใจ นำมาพิจารณา และให้ความเคารพ หากต้องการสร้างความยืดหยุ่นและคุณค่าในระยะยาว
