Kharma Family - KFAM

We're here, because the kids deserved that smile. During this initial visit new beds and mattresses were placed in the boys and girls dormitory.

Kharma Foundation was established over 8 years ago, It was born on a basis of people having a desire to want to help children who are in poverty. It is a foundation comprising of a group of enthusiastic volunteers, who’s primary goals are to improve the conditions children live in and therefore improving the life chances those children have. So many positive actions have taken place over the last

8 years and below is a snap shot of what has been achieved by the foundation.

2007: Ratchawithi Orphanage for Girls in Bangkok received approximately 440 toys for their students.
2008: Wat Don Jan Orphanage in Chiang Mai received school supplies, sports equipment, clothing, food and most importantly a blanket for each and every one of the 660 children living there.
2009: Molotu School in the mountains of Chiang Mai province received resources and assistance to create vegetable gardens. They also received dry food; a chicken house and a playground for approximate 100 children.
2010: 4 Schools of The Royal Border Patrol Police in district 13 of Kanchanaburi province received school supplies, sports equipment, dry food and rice. The resources were also provided for Personal medical treatment for over 1000 children.
2011: The initial visit by the foundation to the Ban Mae Gon School in Mae Sariang district occurred. The mushroom house and vegetable garden underwent refurbishment. A frog pond and fishpond were created. The school also received school supplies, sports equipment, dry food and a medical check up by a professional doctor for 80 children.
2012: Follow up visit Ban Mae Gon School in Mae Sariang district. A brand new dormitory for the boys was completed. The communal area for general gathering and meal times was doubled. The school also received a playground and dry food for 90 children. That year we also visited for the first time Baan Huay Grataai School in Mae Sariang district. This school received sports equipment; blankets and personal items such as clothing, snacks and 1000 kilo rice for approximate 70 children
2013: Follow up visit to Baan Huai Grataai School in Mae Sariang district. That year we constructed a building for the kindergarten children. This building is used for the children to play, eat and sleep in. A mushroom house and fishpond were created. The school received pigs, ducks, chickens and a children’s playground. In addition to this they were provided with updated medical equipment, beds, sports equipment and dry food for around 80 children.
2014: This was the foundations 8th year and by far biggest project. In total 4 schools received help from the foundation. The four schools that the foundation helped that year are:
Darulhikma school in Narathiwas. Tadiga Mabuwoh school in Narathiwas. Issarahuddin school in Songkhla. Jaroensaat school in Yala. These schools as a result of the input from the foundations all have new construction such as new toilets, new dorms and refurbishment of existing facilities. The schools all received as with every other year food, school supplies and updated medical equipment.

2015 has seen many challenges for the Kharma Foundation and these challenges have brought about the need to make some changes. Kharma Foundation will continue to operate with its current structure. As with any organization sometimes it is necessary to make changes in order for the service it provides to develop and continue. This year a new organization will be created to carry on and develop all of the outstanding work that has been mentioned previously. This organization will be knows that “The Kharma Family” (KFAM). The Kharma Family will consist of Founding Family Members, who will be involved in the initial set up of the organization. These founding members may then go on to be part of a future board of KFAM. Family members will have to vow to help once a year with the main project. We will also accept volunteers who can choose to help but are not in a position to make the above commitment. The Kharma family will continue to strive to ensure that it and the volunteers who willingly support it will do the following:

1. There will be no barrier to the kids and the people we help based on gender, religion, ethnicity and sexuality. The people we want to help are individual human beings just like us and will be treated with respect and dignity.

2. We will continue the clear and transparent way in which we provide support and help. We guarantee as previously that all financial aid and resources we receive will go directly to the communities we are trying to help. The volunteers at Kharma family will receive no financial support. All volunteers will pay for their own travel and accommodation expenses, which they incur while carrying out the work of the organization. This also includes any research trips that are carried out. Volunteers will also be expected to contribute financially to the food we donate to the Schools we work in. To be clear every Baht that is raised will be spent on the Children who’s lives we hope to improve.

3. The Kharma Family will be just that a family. Our volunteers will be family members. In order to be family members they must be willing to support the family. This means they have to be willing to commit to contributing financial support and or their time once a year. In order that the project we carry out each year will be a great success.

4. The Kharma Family would prefer to have donations made in the form of resources, for example toilets, construction equipment. These resources will then be sent directly to the location where the project will take place. We of course accept financial donations but understand some people may not feel comfortable making this type of donation.

5. The Kharma Family will ensure that an accurate and detailed report of all resources and financial accounts are provided and made public to all family members.

6. The projects we will carry out will be based on need and how urgent that need is. We will always look at the basic needs of children first for example ensuring that there are adequate resources for the children in respect of basic health and hygiene.

7. Once the project for the coming year has been identified we will aim to raise only the amount of funds/resources needed for that project. However if we have resources or funds remaining, we will ensure this is recorded and included in the reports mentioned previously.

ปีนี้เรามีสปอนเซอร์ใหญ่ที่ช่วยเรื่องค่าใช้จ่ายการก่อสร้างทั้งหมดลงพื้นที่ด้วย นั่นคือคุณเมจิ อโณมา คุ๊ก มูลค่าโครงการท้ายที่สุดอยู่ที่ประมาณ 2.1 ล้านบาท และกว่าครึ่งของโครงการที่เป็นค่าก่อสร้าง 1.25 ล้านบาทคุณเมจิเป็นผู้สนับสนุนทั้งหมด ทำให้พวกเราเหนื่อยน้อยลงมาก ทั้งยังร่วมเดินทางไปกับพวกเรา สำรวจพื้นที่เพื่อโครงการในรอบปีหน้า และทำกิจกรรมกับเด็กๆร่วมกันเป็นเวลาหนึ่งอาทิตย์เต็ม พวกเราขอขอบคุณจากใจจริงที่เห็นคุณค่าของโครงการ คุณค่าของความร่วมมือของทุกคน และคุณค่าของกิจกรรมกับน้องๆ คุณเมจิได้ช่วยเหลือทั้งสิ่งที่สามารถตีเป็นมูลค่าเป็นเงินได้และที่ตีมูลค่าเป็นเงินไม่ได้มากมาย ขอบคุณจริงๆค่ะ

ของรางวัลทำกิจกรรมที่เราให้เพิ่มปีนี้ก็มากมาย เราได้มีการจัดของอุปโภคบริโภคเป็นรางวัลให้แก่ชาวบ้าน ผู้ปกครองด้วย แม้กระทั่งวิตามินบำรุงครรภ์เรายังมี เราได้ติดไปบ้างและประกาศให้ผู้ที่กำลังตั้งครรภ์สามารถมารับได้ในช่วงการทำกิจกรรม เพราะเราอยากช่วยเรื่องคุณภาพชีวิตของเด็กตั้งแต่อยู่ในท้อง เราคิดว่าการที่เราคิดโครงการและของที่จะให้โดยมีพื้นฐานเป็นปัจจัย 4 นั้นถูกต้องแล้ว ทำให้คุณภาพชีวิตของเด็กและชุมชนดีขึ้นซึ่งเป็นเป้าหมายหลักของพวกเรา

กิจกรรมการก่อสร้างที่อาสาสมัครบอกว่าง่ายเกินไป ปีนี้เราเพิ่มเป็นปลูกผักและทาสีห้องน้ำก็เสร็จได้อย่างรวดเร็วจนเรามีเวลาทำกิจกรรมอื่นๆกับเด็กๆมากมาย คุณครูทั้งหลายที่ช่วยดูแลในโรงเรียนปิตุคีก็ไม่ค่อยยอมให้อาสาสมัครลำบากสักเท่าใดนัก เพราะโรงเรียนนี้ไม่เคยมีคณะเข้ามาทำกิจกรรมกับเด็กๆมาก่อน ทั้งเด็กๆ ชาวบ้านและคุณครูตื่นเต้นกันมาก ตอนกลางคืนเด็กๆก็ไม่ยอมกลับบ้านเพราะอยากเข้ามาคุยเล่นกับพวกเรา จนคุณครูต้องบอกให้กลับบ้านและกลับมาใหม่ในวันรุ่งขึ้น พวกเรารู้สึกอบอุ่นหัวใจกับการต้อนรับของคุณครู เด็กๆและชาวบ้านเป็นอย่างยิ่ง

การทำกิจกรรมทุกอย่างพวกเราเข้าขาได้เป็นอย่างดี เหตุผลหนึ่งที่ทำให้ทุกอย่างราบรื่นและได้ผลลัพธ์ที่ดีเกินกว่ามูลค่าเป็นจำนวนเงินของโครงการนั่นคือ ความร่วมมือของทุกฝ่าย น่าจะเป็นเพราะเราดำเนินการอยู่ในพื้นที่อำเภออมก๋อยอยู่หลายปี คุณครูจากโรงเรียนที่ได้รับผลประโยชน์จากปีก่อนๆและปีนี้ต่างรู้จักกันและกลับมาช่วยเหลือรวมถึงให้ความร่วมมือในการดำเนินการโครงการอย่างเต็มที่ ทหารอาสาที่เข้ามาช่วยเหลือโครงการก็ทราบว่าเราทำให้เด็กๆจริงๆ ทุกคนจึงอยากกลับมาช่วยกันคนละไม้คนละมือ ชาวบ้านก็ให้ความร่วมมือกับโรงเรียนอย่างดีเยี่ยม เหมือนทุกคนทราบแนวทางแผนงานของโครงการแล้วและพร้อมที่จะสละแรง สละเวลามาทำงานด้วยกันอย่างราบรื่น

อย่าลืมว่าเคแฟมการดำเนินการทุกอย่างรวมถึงการก่อสร้างโดยไม่มีค่าแรง เราจำเป็นอย่างยิ่งที่ต้องอาศัยความร่วมมือของทุกฝ่าย คนละไม้คนละมือ จึงทำให้โครงการออกมาอย่างประสบความสำเร็จ ได้ผลประโยชน์ตรงและสูงสุดให้แก่เด็กๆและชุมชน เราทราบดีว่ามันยาก แต่เราทำแล้วและทำได้นานแล้ว จนสร้างเป็นชุมชนเล็กๆที่แข็งแรง พร้อมจะช่วยเหลือกันต่อไป

อนึ่ง จากปัญหาเดิมที่คุณครูเอาเงินเดือนตัวเองออกเงินเพื่อซื้ออาหารเลี้ยงชาวบ้านที่มาช่วยงานก่อสร้าง ครั้งนี้เราได้ประกาศให้คิดค่าอาหารตามรายหัวและตามจำนวนวันที่ก่อสร้างตามงานจริง ทำให้ทุกคนได้อิ่มท้อง มีแรงในการเข้ามาช่วยงาน โดยไม่เป็นภาระของครู ปีหน้าเราจะทำคงรูปแบบนี้และเป็นมาตรฐานต่อไป

ขอขอบพระคุณคุณครู ชาวบ้าน ทหารหน่วยรบพิเศษจากแม่ริม สปอนเซอร์ อาสาสมัครทุกๆท่านที่ทำให้โครงการสำเร็จลุล่วงไปได้อย่างดีเยี่ยม เราทำสิ่งเหล่านี้ให้ลุล่วงสมบูรณ์โดยไม่มีความร่วมมือจากทุกท่านไปมิได้ ขอขอบพระคุณจากใจจริง แม้โครงการจะจบไปแล้วแต่สิ่งดีๆที่เราทำให้กับเด็กและชุมชนยังคงอยู่ ยังเกิดประโยชน์กับเด็กและชุมชนไปอีกหลายปี และมากไปกว่านั้นคือความทรงจำกับเรื่องดีๆที่เราได้ทำร่วมกันในครั้งนี้ ยังอยู่กับพวกเราอีกนานเท่านาน

KFAM Project Summary 2025-2026

This year, everything proceeded smoothly despite the construction not being 100% complete. This was due to a delayed start and heavy rainfall last year. However, the overall progress is highly satisfactory. We extend our deepest gratitude to the teachers from the Mae Hae area and those from previous projects who collaborated with great heart. The construction details are as follows:

Completed Projects:
• Huay Haeng School: Replaced the school building roof and constructed an activity stage.
• Khun Song School: Paved the cafeteria floor and installed new fencing and gates.
• Ban Pitu Kee School: Completed the construction of toilets, eaves extension, classroom repairs, a storage room, and fencing.

Ongoing Projects:
• Mae Hae Luang School: Construction of classrooms and storage is 70% complete. The gate is finished, but work was paused in February for student exams. As of March 2026, work has resumed.
• Ban Mae Hae Noi: 80% complete. This includes the library, fencing, and activity stage. Only the water system installation for two toilets remains.
• Ban Mae Ra-ar Nai: Emergency solar cell installation and septic tank repairs were completed before the official project start. Additionally, the sponsor recently approved floor paving in front of the school to prevent frequent flooding, which is currently underway.

Our Major Sponsor
This year, we were honored to have our major sponsor, Ms. Meiji Anoma Cook, join us on-site. The total project value reached approximately 2.1 million Baht, with Ms. Meiji contributing 1.25 million Baht (over half the total) specifically for construction costs. Her support significantly lightened our burden. She traveled with us for a full week, surveying areas for next year’s project and engaging in activities with the children. We are truly grateful for her recognition of this project’s value and the spirit of collaboration. Her contribution, both tangible and intangible, is immeasurable.

Supplies & Healthcare
We provided an abundance of teaching materials, maintenance tools, and food reserves. This year, we shifted from individual household medicine kits to school-based medical supplies. However, feedback from parents indicated a need for basic home remedies (e.g., pain relief and digestive medicine for children). Next year, we will consider distributing these to individual families again to ensure primary care is more accessible.
Furthermore, we provided consumer goods as prizes for villagers and parents, including prenatal vitamins for expectant mothers to improve the quality of life starting from the womb. We believe focusing on the "Four Basic Necessities" is the right approach to sustainably improving the community's well-being.

Volunteer Activities & Community Spirit
To keep our volunteers engaged, we added vegetable gardening and painting projects, which were completed so efficiently that we had extra time for activities with the children. At Pitu Kee School—which had never hosted such a group before—the excitement was palpable. The children were so eager to talk with us that teachers had to gently send them home at night to rest for the next day. The warm welcome from the teachers, children, and villagers was truly heartwarming.
The success of this project—which far exceeds its monetary value—stems from years of building relationships in Omkoi. Teachers from past and present projects, volunteer soldiers, and villagers all worked in harmony, knowing our true goal is the children’s welfare. Everyone was ready to sacrifice their time and labor without hesitation.

A Sustainable Model
As a reminder, KFAM operates with zero labor costs. We rely entirely on collective manual labor. This model is challenging, but we have proven it works, creating a strong, supportive community.
Additionally, we addressed a previous issue where teachers used their own salaries to feed volunteers. This year, we implemented a food budget based on the actual number of workdays and participants. This ensured everyone was well-fed without burdening the teachers—a standard we will maintain moving forward.

Closing Gratitude
We wish to thank the teachers, villagers, the Special Forces from Mae Rim, our sponsors, and all volunteers. This success would be impossible without you. While the project cycle has ended, the benefits provided to the children and the memories we shared will last for years to come.

ของรางวัลทำกิจกรรมที่เราให้เพิ่มปีนี้ก็มากมาย เราได้มีการจัดของอุปโภคบริโภคเป็นรางวัลให้แก่ชาวบ้าน ผู้ปกครองด้วย แม้กระทั่งวิตามินบำรุงครรภ์เรายังมี เราได้ติดไปบ้างและประกาศให้ผู้ที่กำลังตั้งครรภ์สามารถมารับได้ในช่วงการทำกิจกรรม เพราะเราอยากช่วยเรื่องคุณภาพชีวิตของเด็กตั้งแต่อยู่ในท้อง เราคิดว่าการที่เราคิดโครงการและของที่จะให้โดยมีพื้นฐานเป็นปัจจัย 4 นั้นถูกต้องแล้ว ทำให้คุณภาพชีวิตของเด็กและชุมชนดีขึ้นซึ่งเป็นเป้าหมายหลักของพวกเรา

กิจกรรมการก่อสร้างที่อาสาสมัครบอกว่าง่ายเกินไป ปีนี้เราเพิ่มเป็นปลูกผักและทาสีห้องน้ำก็เสร็จได้อย่างรวดเร็วจนเรามีเวลาทำกิจกรรมอื่นๆกับเด็กๆมากมาย คุณครูทั้งหลายที่ช่วยดูแลในโรงเรียนปิตุคีก็ไม่ค่อยยอมให้อาสาสมัครลำบากสักเท่าใดนัก เพราะโรงเรียนนี้ไม่เคยมีคณะเข้ามาทำกิจกรรมกับเด็กๆมาก่อน ทั้งเด็กๆ ชาวบ้านและคุณครูตื่นเต้นกันมาก ตอนกลางคืนเด็กๆก็ไม่ยอมกลับบ้านเพราะอยากเข้ามาคุยเล่นกับพวกเรา จนคุณครูต้องบอกให้กลับบ้านและกลับมาใหม่ในวันรุ่งขึ้น พวกเรารู้สึกอบอุ่นหัวใจกับการต้อนรับของคุณครู เด็กๆและชาวบ้านเป็นอย่างยิ่ง

การทำกิจกรรมทุกอย่างพวกเราเข้าขาได้เป็นอย่างดี เหตุผลหนึ่งที่ทำให้ทุกอย่างราบรื่นและได้ผลลัพธ์ที่ดีเกินกว่ามูลค่าเป็นจำนวนเงินของโครงการนั่นคือ ความร่วมมือของทุกฝ่าย น่าจะเป็นเพราะเราดำเนินการอยู่ในพื้นที่อำเภออมก๋อยอยู่หลายปี คุณครูจากโรงเรียนที่ได้รับผลประโยชน์จากปีก่อนๆและปีนี้ต่างรู้จักกันและกลับมาช่วยเหลือรวมถึงให้ความร่วมมือในการดำเนินการโครงการอย่างเต็มที่ ทหารอาสาที่เข้ามาช่วยเหลือโครงการก็ทราบว่าเราทำให้เด็กๆจริงๆ ทุกคนจึงอยากกลับมาช่วยกันคนละไม้คนละมือ ชาวบ้านก็ให้ความร่วมมือกับโรงเรียนอย่างดีเยี่ยม เหมือนทุกคนทราบแนวทางแผนงานของโครงการแล้วและพร้อมที่จะสละแรง สละเวลามาทำงานด้วยกันอย่างราบรื่น

อย่าลืมว่าเคแฟมการดำเนินการทุกอย่างรวมถึงการก่อสร้างโดยไม่มีค่าแรง เราจำเป็นอย่างยิ่งที่ต้องอาศัยความร่วมมือของทุกฝ่าย คนละไม้คนละมือ จึงทำให้โครงการออกมาอย่างประสบความสำเร็จ ได้ผลประโยชน์ตรงและสูงสุดให้แก่เด็กๆและชุมชน เราทราบดีว่ามันยาก แต่เราทำแล้วและทำได้นานแล้ว จนสร้างเป็นชุมชนเล็กๆที่แข็งแรง พร้อมจะช่วยเหลือกันต่อไป

อนึ่ง จากปัญหาเดิมที่คุณครูเอาเงินเดือนตัวเองออกเงินเพื่อซื้ออาหารเลี้ยงชาวบ้านที่มาช่วยงานก่อสร้าง ครั้งนี้เราได้ประกาศให้คิดค่าอาหารตามรายหัวและตามจำนวนวันที่ก่อสร้างตามงานจริง ทำให้ทุกคนได้อิ่มท้อง มีแรงในการเข้ามาช่วยงาน โดยไม่เป็นภาระของครู ปีหน้าเราจะทำคงรูปแบบนี้และเป็นมาตรฐานต่อไป

ขอขอบพระคุณคุณครู ชาวบ้าน ทหารหน่วยรบพิเศษจากแม่ริม สปอนเซอร์ อาสาสมัครทุกๆท่านที่ทำให้โครงการสำเร็จลุล่วงไปได้อย่างดีเยี่ยม เราทำสิ่งเหล่านี้ให้ลุล่วงสมบูรณ์โดยไม่มีความร่วมมือจากทุกท่านไปมิได้ ขอขอบพระคุณจากใจจริง แม้โครงการจะจบไปแล้วแต่สิ่งดีๆที่เราทำให้กับเด็กและชุมชนยังคงอยู่ ยังเกิดประโยชน์กับเด็กและชุมชนไปอีกหลายปี และมากไปกว่านั้นคือความทรงจำกับเรื่องดีๆที่เราได้ทำร่วมกันในครั้งนี้ ยังอยู่กับพวกเราอีกนานเท่านาน

KFAM Project Summary 2025-2026

This year, everything proceeded smoothly despite the construction not being 100% complete. This was due to a delayed start and heavy rainfall last year. However, the overall progress is highly satisfactory. We extend our deepest gratitude to the teachers from the Mae Hae area and those from previous projects who collaborated with great heart. The construction details are as follows:

Completed Projects:
• Huay Haeng School: Replaced the school building roof and constructed an activity stage.
• Khun Song School: Paved the cafeteria floor and installed new fencing and gates.
• Ban Pitu Kee School: Completed the construction of toilets, eaves extension, classroom repairs, a storage room, and fencing.

Ongoing Projects:
• Mae Hae Luang School: Construction of classrooms and storage is 70% complete. The gate is finished, but work was paused in February for student exams. As of March 2026, work has resumed.
• Ban Mae Hae Noi: 80% complete. This includes the library, fencing, and activity stage. Only the water system installation for two toilets remains.
• Ban Mae Ra-ar Nai: Emergency solar cell installation and septic tank repairs were completed before the official project start. Additionally, the sponsor recently approved floor paving in front of the school to prevent frequent flooding, which is currently underway.

Our Major Sponsor
This year, we were honored to have our major sponsor, Ms. Meiji Anoma Cook, join us on-site. The total project value reached approximately 2.1 million Baht, with Ms. Meiji contributing 1.25 million Baht (over half the total) specifically for construction costs. Her support significantly lightened our burden. She traveled with us for a full week, surveying areas for next year’s project and engaging in activities with the children. We are truly grateful for her recognition of this project’s value and the spirit of collaboration. Her contribution, both tangible and intangible, is immeasurable.

Supplies & Healthcare
We provided an abundance of teaching materials, maintenance tools, and food reserves. This year, we shifted from individual household medicine kits to school-based medical supplies. However, feedback from parents indicated a need for basic home remedies (e.g., pain relief and digestive medicine for children). Next year, we will consider distributing these to individual families again to ensure primary care is more accessible.
Furthermore, we provided consumer goods as prizes for villagers and parents, including prenatal vitamins for expectant mothers to improve the quality of life starting from the womb. We believe focusing on the "Four Basic Necessities" is the right approach to sustainably improving the community's well-being.

Volunteer Activities & Community Spirit
To keep our volunteers engaged, we added vegetable gardening and painting projects, which were completed so efficiently that we had extra time for activities with the children. At Pitu Kee School—which had never hosted such a group before—the excitement was palpable. The children were so eager to talk with us that teachers had to gently send them home at night to rest for the next day. The warm welcome from the teachers, children, and villagers was truly heartwarming.
The success of this project—which far exceeds its monetary value—stems from years of building relationships in Omkoi. Teachers from past and present projects, volunteer soldiers, and villagers all worked in harmony, knowing our true goal is the children’s welfare. Everyone was ready to sacrifice their time and labor without hesitation.

A Sustainable Model
As a reminder, KFAM operates with zero labor costs. We rely entirely on collective manual labor. This model is challenging, but we have proven it works, creating a strong, supportive community.
Additionally, we addressed a previous issue where teachers used their own salaries to feed volunteers. This year, we implemented a food budget based on the actual number of workdays and participants. This ensured everyone was well-fed without burdening the teachers—a standard we will maintain moving forward.

Closing Gratitude
We wish to thank the teachers, villagers, the Special Forces from Mae Rim, our sponsors, and all volunteers. This success would be impossible without you. While the project cycle has ended, the benefits provided to the children and the memories we shared will last for years to come.
