Philanthropy Connections

We support community projects focused on people in vulnerable situations in Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar. Thank you for your interest.

Philanthropy Connections Foundation connects people, organisations and companies who want to sponsor (funds, time, knowledge and skills) projects that need financial or practical support. We visit and screen the projects to ensure that the need truly exists and the intended support will be used effectively. Our goal is to help people in need build an independent, dignified existence; to provide for their own needs in a sustainable manner. Once we start supporting a project, we continue to monitor and evaluate the progress and provide reports to our sponsor. Our latest financial report and achievements in 2021 is available:

𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫. 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝. 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐅𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧.

This is what the past year looked like around Loi Sam Sip School near the Thai-Myanmar border. Armed conflict. Travel restrictions. Displacement. Communities living in fear. And still, the children came to class.

This is exactly why this school exists, and why it matters. Teachers and students live within the community. Meals, dormitories, and daily care are all in place, so that a closed road or a security warning does not have to mean a closed classroom. When the world outside becomes unpredictable, the school stays open.

For children growing up here, that steadiness is everything. It is the foundation on which confidence, learning, and a sense of future are built, quietly, consistently, one school day at a time.

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐬 𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐬. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐧.

Four children completed their nursery stage and started kindergarten. For families with little stability and few options, this kind of milestone does not happen by chance. It happens because someone showed up every day to teach, to care, to prepare long before anyone thought to measure the results.

That transition, from nursery to kindergarten, is exactly what the Teacher Supplement for BUR Nursery School Project exists to make possible. Three dedicated nursery teachers, supported through this project, gave these children two years of daily care, play-based learning, hygiene routines, storytelling, and the kind of consistent, patient attention that builds confidence from the very beginning.

𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐬 𝐇𝐚𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐫 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞.

Thinida came from central Shan State, Myanmar. When her family learned that armed groups had begun collecting the names of young children in their area for military recruitment, they made a decision no parent should have to make, and asked the Koung Jor Shan Refugee Camp boarding to take her in.

She was only 12 years old. At an age when most children worry about homework and what to eat for lunch, Thinida's family was making decisions about her safety that could not wait.

Without the boarding house, Thinida would have had nowhere safe to go, and no path back to education. With it, they have something to hold on to, stability, education, and a future that is still theirs to shape.

𝐃𝐚𝐨 𝐍𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐧: 𝐀 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, 𝐀 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫

Dao Ngern has taken an important step forward in her education.

With support and encouragement from Kids Ark Foundation, she completed Grade 9 and applied to the school she hoped to attend next. She was accepted, opening the door to upper secondary education.

This year, she achieved a strong GPA and continued developing her confidence through art, sports, and rugby, including representing her school in competitions.

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐛 𝐚 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐥, 𝐒𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐆𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠.

Running a school at the TTG IDP camp means working without a reliable phone signal. Military operators cut the lines. Electricity runs low. When communication is needed for safety updates, for their students or the school itself, teachers climb to higher ground until a signal appears. They also conduct daily safety checks before every class, monitor for gunfire and aircraft and map out safe routes for children walking to school.

This year, 193 children completed the school year at the TTG IDP education centre. Children who began the year withdrawn and frightened ended it more confident, more connected, and more willing to raise their hands.

𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 & 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡: 𝐍𝐚𝐰 𝐖𝐢𝐧.'𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲

Naw Win is 65 years old, Karen, and lives alone near the church. Each day, she collects and separates plastic bottles to sell, but even this small income is unreliable, with some days bringing nothing at all.

She has one daughter, but she remains in Myanmar, out of reach. With no steady income and no family nearby, Naw Win faces each day largely on her own, relying on whatever she can gather and sell to get by.

Through the Humanitarian Relief & Community Outreach Support Project, elderly people in Sangkhlaburi District receive monthly support, including elderly people, people with disabilities and those living alone without income or a safety net.

With support from Stichting MAX Maakt Mogelijk, people like Naw N. are not left to face hardship alone.

𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩.

With only an unemployed grandmother and a young mother facing difficult circumstances, this child had no stable family support to rely on. The situation was further complicated by unclear family circumstances, including uncertainty around her father.

As her mother was too young to fully manage the responsibilities of childcare, her grandmother entrusted her to Baan Unrak Foundation (BUR). There, she now receives the care, protection, and nurturing support she needs during her early childhood years.

Through support from Philanthropy Connections Foundation (PCF) and its donors, BUR is able to provide this child with a safer and more supportive start in life. This support also reflects PCF’s commitment to working with local partners to help children and families facing the most challenging hardships access the care they need to live with dignity.

𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒚 𝑺𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒐 𝒊𝒔 𝒓𝒖𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈.
In December, Sallo will take on a half marathon to raise funds for 137 children at Baan Unrak Foundation, children who need medical care, education, meals, and a safe place to grow when family support is not possible.

We are honoured to receive a grant donation from the Board of Trustees of 𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐎 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞𝐬' 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭. This special grant is funded directly by the employees of the LEGO Group to support humanitarian work for children and youth worldwide.

𝟑𝟖 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥. 𝐀 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞.

In Sangkhlaburi District, close to the Thai-Myanmar border, displaced Karen families live far from the services and stability most of us take for granted. For their youngest children, the gap between where they are and where they could be is not about ability. It is about access.

The Dilip Kumar Dasgupta school provides early childhood education for displaced children from Karen communities, in their own language, with teachers who know them, in a classroom that is safe. Daily lessons, nutritious meals, and consistent care give 38 young children the foundation they need before formal schooling begins, a foundation that children in more stable circumstances simply take for granted.
