Philanthropy Connections

Philanthropy Connections We support community projects focused on people in vulnerable situations in Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar. Thank you for your interest.

Philanthropy Connections Foundation connects people, organisations and companies who want to sponsor (funds, time, knowledge and skills) projects that need financial or practical support. We visit and screen the projects to ensure that the need truly exists and the intended support will be used effectively. Our goal is to help people in need build an independent, dignified existence; to provide fo

r their own needs in a sustainable manner. Once we start supporting a project, we continue to monitor and evaluate the progress and provide reports to our sponsor. Our latest financial report and achievements in 2021 is available:

Soe is originally from Mae Sot, Thailand, and comes from Karen and British family background. He grew up in a culturally diverse community surrounded by people from many different backgrounds and ethnic groups. As a child, he was involved in helping people in need and supporting those living in refugee camps. These experiences inspired him to develop a strong passion for creating positive change in the lives of others and helping provide opportunities that improve their quality of life.

Soe joins PCF as Programme Coordinator with the belief that he can contribute to improving people's well-being and help create a brighter future for children through meaningful and lasting impact.

Please join us in giving Soe a warm welcome to the team.

At Koung Jor Shan Refugee Camp, language education is helping students build confidence, preserve culture, and stay connected to learning.

During the 2025–2026 cycle, the Stipend for Language Teachers project supported 85 students, kept 7 evening English classes running, completed 5 CEFR assessments, supported a Shan literature and culture summer course, and brought the wider community together through Student Appreciation Day. There were challenges, including teacher retention and classroom gaps, but the team adapted, and the learning continued.

With heartfelt thanks to Gerard de Blok, Anny Benoist-Grenouillon, Karen Guo, Paul Overdijk, Anneke Breukel, Richard Murray, Simon Bradshaw, and Willem Lamers & Erica Kroon. Your support made every class possible.

We are delighted to celebrate Pi and Ly, two PCF scholarship students who have graduated from the Nursing Practice Certificate Programme at Payap University.

After a demanding year of study, exams, and clinical training, both are now ready to take their next step in healthcare. Even before graduation, Pi and Ly had already received job offers from Lamphun Hospital, a milestone that brings greater independence, the chance to support their families, and careers centred on caring for others.

Our heartfelt thanks to all sponsors who supported their education. Your generosity gave Pi and Ly the stability to study, graduate, and step into professional life with confidence and dignity.

Congratulations, Pi and Ly. This is not the end of the journey, it is the beginning of a future built on care, opportunity, and purpose.

We are glad to share that our scholarship recipient, Pyae Phyo Aung (Daniel), has been recognised with the Outstanding Student Award (Strong Service Mindset) from the International College, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University!

Presented at the Scholarship Award Ceremony for the 2025 Academic Year during the Songkran Ceremony of 2026, this award honours students who have gone above and beyond, not just in their studies but in their dedication to serving others and contributing to their community.

Daniel's achievement is a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do. To our generous sponsors and supporters: this is your impact. Every contribution helps young people like Daniel grow into leaders who make a difference.

Taataaway is 75 years old. He came from Myanmar many years ago and, over time, lost connection with the life and family he once knew.

For years, he moved from place to place, depending on whoever would take him in. Eventually, someone brought him to Baan Unrak Foundation.

Today, he has a small hut on Baan Unrak’s land. He receives regular food, clothing, and care. When he wanders too far and cannot find his way back, the team goes out to find him and bring him home.

Through the Humanitarian Relief & Community Outreach Support Project, 137 people in Sangkhlaburi District receive monthly support, including elderly people, people with disabilities, and those living alone without income or a safety net.

With support from Stichting MAX Maakt Mogelijk people like Taataaway are not forgotten.

For him, Baan Unrak is more than support. It is the one place he can return to.

𝐈𝐍 𝐅𝐀𝐍𝐆 𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐓, 𝐀 𝐍𝐔𝐑𝐒𝐄 𝐆𝐎𝐄𝐒 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐂 𝐂𝐀𝐍'𝐓

For migrant women workers in Chiang Mai Province, cervical and breast cancer screening is often not a routine appointment. It can mean taking half a day off work they cannot afford, finding their way through an unfamiliar hospital, and having a sensitive conversation in a language they may not fully speak.

That is why our project partner, Fortune Community Health Group (FCHG), goes directly to them. Led by women who understand these communities, the team brings voluntary cancer screenings into the communities where women live and work. This year, 40 women will receive cervical and breast cancer screenings, carried out by medical staff, at no cost to them.

When follow-up care is needed, Fortune is there too: arranging appointments, covering hospital fees, and accompanying each woman as she navigates the next steps.

This is what preventive care looks like when it meets people where they are.
Thank you to Artinis Medical, Michael Franklin, and the Hosakul family. Your support funds every screening, referral, and follow-up visit throughout the 2025–2026 project cycle.

We believe that no one should have to suffer simply because they cannot afford basic healthcare.

That is why we launched our recent birthday campaign. Thanks to your generosity, more than 800 people in Fang District will now have access to life-saving medical care.

Please take a moment to watch Sallo’s personal message of thanks and see the profound difference your kindness is making on the ground.

When Tekki (not his real name) was four, he arrived at Baan Unrak Foundation (BUR) alongside his older brother and their terminally ill mother. While his brother was healthy, Tekki lived with severe developmental and physical impairments. When he arrived at BUR, he could not even roll over; his muscles were completely limp, leaving him without strength or control.

Shortly after, their mother passed away. His father took the healthy brother but rejected Tekki entirely. No other family came forward. He was left alone.

But he was not left behind. With patience, dedicated care, and endless support from the team at BUR, Tekki found the strength to walk. One small, courageous step at a time.

𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒚 𝑺𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒐 𝒊𝒔 𝒓𝒖𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈.

In December, Sallo will run a half marathon to raise vital funds for Tekki and the other 136 children at Baan Unrak, who need medical care, education, nutrition, and a safe sanctuary when family support does not exist.

"𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝑰 𝒓𝒖𝒏 𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒏 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝑻𝒆𝒌𝒌𝒊."

Every donation ensures that children facing the hardest beginnings can grow up with stability, dignity, and hope.

To support Sallo's journey and become a lifeline for these children, please consider making a donation today.

Support the journey here: https://www.philanthropyconnections.org/Join-Sallo-Become-a-lifeline-for-over-137-children-in-need

Together, we can ensure 137 children receive the care, education, and protection they need for a safer future.

𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐂𝐅, 𝐇𝐬𝐮!

We're pleased to welcome Hsu to PCF as an Intern for the Communications Team.

Hsu is a third-year Communication Arts student at Rangsit University, and her passion for education and community development has been shaped by nearly three years of hands-on experience, volunteering as a teacher in orphanages and supporting students in marginalised communities through teaching, coaching, and mentorship.

A holder of a Diploma in Social Sciences from Phaung Daw Oo Monastic Education in Mandalay, Myanmar, Hsu has also taken her commitment to the regional stage. She participated in the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) in 2025, studying civic engagement at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, USA, and contributed to an environmental education project as part of eMpowering Youth Across ASEAN, Cohort 4, in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Hsu is drawn to work that creates meaningful change for communities, and we look forward to learning alongside her and supporting her continued growth.

Please join us in giving Hsu a very warm welcome to the PCF family!
