We support community projects focused on people in vulnerable situations in Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar. Thank you for your interest.

Philanthropy Connections Foundation connects people, organisations and companies who want to sponsor (funds, time, knowledge and skills) projects that need financial or practical support. We visit and screen the projects to ensure that the need truly exists and the intended support will be used effectively. Our goal is to help people in need build an independent, dignified existence; to provide fo

𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗻𝗴: 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗜𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁

Ten-year-old Nay Lin has been living with a complex disability since birth, requiring a tracheostomy tube to breathe and ongoing medical care. His mother cares for him full-time and cannot work; his father's wages as an orchard labourer weren't enough to renew the family's health coverage, leaving Nay Lin without steady access to the hospital care he depends on.

With support covering transportation, food, and medical costs, Nay Lin has been able to attend every scheduled appointment at Fang Hospital without interruption. His condition has stayed stable, and his family has found new confidence and relief in caring for him.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐔𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐒𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐥.

Moving forward gradually. Steadily. Without giving up.

That is how local teachers in northern Thailand's Hmong communities described their own growth at this year's Local Teacher Empowerment workshop in Chiang Rai.

441 students learning in their mother tongue. 10 local teachers mentored. Ban Huai Han School performing above the national average in both reading and national tests. A teacher who arrived with no experience and left confident enough to guide others. Children who used to skip school now raising their hands.

𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗗𝗣𝘀: 𝗨 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗮 𝗪𝗶𝗻'𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆

U Thura Win cares for 155 orphaned children at Wan Sein IDPs Orphanage Centre in southern Shan State, Myanmar, children who have lost their parents to years of conflict and have nowhere else to go. With only four caregivers between them and hunger, the pressure was relentless. As food costs rose and supplies ran short, even one meal a day became uncertain.

Then came rice support from the Lahu Women's Organization. One hundred sacks delivered in two rounds gave the orphanage three months of stable food, enough for caregivers to stop counting sacks and start focusing on the children's education, health, and protection.

A sincere thank you extends to Wessel Veenstra's network at the Protestantse Gemeente Franeker and an anonymous sponsor, whose compassionate support ensures that caregivers like U Thura Win can keep showing up and that 155 children do not face another day without a meal.

𝐒𝐮𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐚: 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐲 𝐃𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠

Sukanya is building confidence through both classroom learning and real-life experience.

With scholarship support through Kids Ark Foundation, she continued her vocational education and achieved an excellent GPA. She also joined a hands-on tour project, where students planned a 3-day, 2-night trip, arranging transport, accommodation, budgets, and guiding activities themselves.

For Sukanya, this was a challenging and valuable experience that strengthened teamwork, communication, independence, and practical life skills.

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫, 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝.

For most of their lives, the world beyond Koung Jor Shan Refugee Camp felt out of reach. This year, older students from the Boarding House for Underserved Shan Youth travelled to Lampang and Bangkok for leadership training, covering children's rights, ethnic identity, advocacy, fact-checking, and responsible media use.

For many, it was the first time they had spoken up in a room full of people. The first time they learned about their own rights. The first time they saw themselves not as people waiting for opportunities, but as people who could create them.

What came back with them was confidence. They spoke differently. They carried themselves differently. And they started giving back, without anyone having to ask.

Noom Fah was once one of Loi Sam Sip School's brightest students. But when his father became disabled, he had to leave school to care for his family and hold their household together.

Years later, he had the chance to return, not as a student, but as a teacher. Noom Fah's return as a teacher has given children hope. They see that someone who once studied at the same school can come back and teach, and they begin to believe that they can achieve similar success.

Naw T. is 73 years old, a Karen resident living near Huai Malai. Widowed and living alone, she is blind in one eye and can barely see out of the other, making everyday tasks a daily struggle.

With her sight failing, Naw T. is no longer able to work. She has children and grandchildren who visit from time to time, but they have their own struggles and cannot support her financially. Most days, she is on her own, with no income and no one nearby to lean on.

For Naw T., even simple daily tasks are a challenge in the dark world she now lives in. Through the Humanitarian Relief & Community Outreach Support Project, she receives monthly support that helps cover her basic needs, a small comfort in a life with so much uncertainty.

With support from Stichting MAX Maakt Mogelijk, people like Naw T. are not left to face hardship alone.

Huge news from our alumna, Mol, she has officially received her teaching license, and her days as an "unlicensed teacher" are finally over!

Mol's journey began in the hills of Mae Hong Son Province. After her parents' divorce, her family relocated to Chiang Mai, where her mother worked as a housemaid to support Mol and her two younger brothers. Supported by PCF since Grade 8, Mol grew into a dedicated, community-minded student with one clear goal: to become a science teacher who inspires children facing the same struggles she once did.

Congratulations, Mol! Your journey is proof that strength, compassion, and access to education can create life-changing possibilities.

At just one year old, a child from Baan Unrak Foundation (BUR), needs what every child needs: safety, care, affection, and a nurturing place to grow. Her mother, who is also a teenage orphan, has had to carry responsibilities far beyond her age and capacity.

With no relatives to depend on, the child was brought into the care of the Foundation, where she can receive basic childcare, attention and nurturing support she needs to grow safely. This support also helps ease some of the heavy burden shouldered by her young mother, giving both mother and child a better chance to move forward.

Through continuous support from its generous donors, PCF and the Foundation can offer essential childcare for the child, alongside education assistance for her teenage mother. In line with its mission, PCF remains committed to help the most vulnerable communities they need to live with dignity.

𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒚 𝑺𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒐 𝒊𝒔 𝒓𝒖𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈.

In December, Sallo will take on a half marathon to raise funds for 137 children at Baan Unrak Foundation, children who need medical care, education, meals, and a safe place to grow when family support is not possible.

𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗻𝗴: 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

At 69 years old, living with a chronic lung condition that leaves her breathless and weak, Miss Nang Nang was missing hospital appointments simply because she couldn't afford to get there. With no income of her own, she relied on her son, a daily wage labourer whose earnings barely covered their basic food needs.

With support for transportation, food, and medical costs, she began attending her appointments at Fang Hospital without missing a single one. Her health slowly turned around and so did her sense of self.

Today, she can eat, bathe, and move through her day on her own. She even helps with cooking and cleaning around the house.
